Good points here:

I also like to take a topic or point of discussion and elaborate on it for a post.
Maybe I'm different but I don't usually get writer's block. I've been writing for sometime so generating content is something that I'm used to, regardless of the subject.

When it does happen I recognize it for what it is and pull back. I'm usually trying to hard. Contrary to common beliefs, forcing yourself to come up with subject matter when the brains isn't ready to give you an answer, won't work. First, you have to let the creative part flow from you and that comes when your mind is at ease and not forced.

Get away from your computer.Go set down or walk or do any number of things, just get away. When you least expect it, the answer will come.

Also, as you move through your day, ask yourself "What is it that I can write about, what's important that someone else would want to read, then focus on it but let your mind answer you back. This works consistently for me in blogging, and as I write stories and novels.

Actually, writers block is common but can be easily overcome if you don't despair and let the natural state of generating ideas flow from your brain. I think I'll write my next article on "writer's block'. Now there's an idea prompted by someones contribution.
