5 Easy Ways to Link for Trackbacks

1. Differing Opinions:

In any niche there is always going to be a difference of opinions on one topic or another ~ do nofollow links really count, do ride on toys really have benefits, should you use pop boxes in your garden, should a school lunch have 3 carbs in it? Anything you talk about you’re going to find differing opinions. Use that to your advantage. Write a post on the subject, give your opinion on the topic, and then find other posts that have different opinions than you. Link to those posts in your post to give your readers a wider view of the issue.

2. Back up your point:

Take a stand in a post. Once you’ve taken your stand find other people in the blogosphere that agree with your stance and link to them from within your post. You have some backup for your stance, and your readers get to read more reasons why you know what you’re talking about.

3. Link Roundup:

Link to your favorite posts of the week. Gives you a quick and easy post and introduces your readers to blogs/authors they may not already know. (link roundups are often done on Fridays)

4.  Other people’s comments:

You may notice a comment on someone else’s blog that gives you a good idea for a post. Use it. Tell everyone where your idea came from and link to the post so they can see the post that inspired you.

5. Other people’s posts:

You may read a blog post that you agree or disagree with, use that post as a jumping off point for your own post. Tell people in your post what you thought of the original post, and your unique thoughts about the topic. Make sure you share with your readers a link to the story that inspired your story.

There you have it, 5 ways to include links back to another post. Each of these links will provide you the opportunity to create a trackback on the post you’ve linked to.

What other creative ways can you think of to link to another blogger in your post? I’d love to hear how you’re using linking to other blogs in your posts.

Hey Jackie! I'm just catching up on some post reading and this was a good one for me. This is one technique that I haven't utilized yet and this gives me a little more insight on some things that I can do. Thanks!

I haven't done any round-ups yet, but I use the other 4 points regularly, especially other people comments and posts.

I have been trying to wrap my brain around the concept of trackbacks without success. Thank you so much for the concrete examples - now I finally think I get it!

I never really thought of using other peoples comments or posts to come up with ideas for content. It is a really ingenious idea, simple and effective. There's nothing worse than staring at your monitor trying to think of a new topic to write about.

These tips are so simple but effective! They also give fantastic ideas for just writing content when you can't tihnk of something!

Simply read a blog or 2 and the comments if needed, find something you can give a strong opinion on, write about it, link back to the post and wala! Blog commenting, possible trackback, and a fun article all complete!

Awesome :)

You would tweet the url that points that specific article. Not sure what you mean by the whole url ~ you can shorten it with a shortener, but you need the whole url to get people to the right place.

Yes RSS directories is a one time thing if you do YOUR author feed ~ it will update the feed every time you publish a new article.

What is the purpose of your article? Is it to get you traffic? or is to get you links to your page to get your page to rank better? If you're trying to get traffic to the article you need to target specific keywords for each article, then build links to the article using the keywords you're targeting as anchor text. If you're using it to build links to your site, don't worry about trying to get it to rank.

Thank you Jackie!

1.Would I post the whole EZ URL to Twitter?

2.Would posting EZA author RSS feed to feed directories be a one time
thing and the articles would keep on being added?

3.What do you suggest for getting the article ranked... the link in this article leads to a free download on my blog for Jon Leger rebranded PDF...?

Thank you, Fran

Your not going to get a trackback by doing that because EZA is not a wordpress blog ~ and trackbacks are part of wordpress. You'd maybe get people who read your blog to read your article.

You could submit your EZA author RSS feed to feed directories, or post the link to your article on twitter (if you have some followers) or submit the link to your article to a bookmarking site ie. stumbleupon or delicious ~ but trackbacks don't work at EZA. :)

Jackie,
I was thinking about promoting a new article I have in Ezine Articles, and connecting that with this post all about trackbacks, what if I posted a title and an intro or the summary in my blog with a link to my EA article?

Is that acceptable, do you or others do something like that? Would
that promote my article?

Please tell me what you think,

Thanks, Fran

This is great information...thank you very much Jackie!
I'm definitely going to concentrate on using the different
methods you describe.

Fran :)
