I hope by now you know just how important it is to create links back to your site, whether it’s a Squidoo lens or an authority site. These links back to your site are what will help you move up in the search engine rankings. With better rankings for your chosen keywords, comes an increase in web traffic.
Google Knol
Google knol is another place you can publish your content for free. This is one of the easiest places I’ve found to create content. You simply go to Google knol:
Sign in and then click “write a knol”. This will open a text editor for you to put your content into. Google knol is quite different than Squidoo in that you can just paste an entire article in there. There’s no place for all the extras that Squidoo provides, it’s simply information.
Google knol is great to use to repurpose your Ezine articles or blog posts if you have a blog. You can simply go to Google Knol, maybe rewrite your first paragraph and then paste it right in.
Since the point doing this is to create links back to your lenses you will need to go into the content and create some links within the content. This is pretty easy since there is a text editor. Just highlight the keywords you’re trying to get your lens to rank for, and then click the chain link icon in the tool bar. It will open a box where you can put in the url for your lens. When you click save it will create the link back to your lens.
Google knol is still relatively unused. It’s my thinking that whenever you can get a link from Google directly ~ you should do it.
Speaking of which, it was while doing a knol that I realized Google now gives you a profile space. You can fill it in with keyword anchor text links to your sites ~ I’d go ahead and fill in your info, upload a picture and then add some links to your best lenses ~ it can only help to get links from Google.
If you’re not taking advantage of Google Knol yet, what’s stopping you? Get on over and fill in your Google profile and create a couple knols. Who knows you might find it becomes your favorite place to create content on the web.
