If you are talking about finding out your search ranking you do NOT use quotes. You want to find out where you are showing up just as someone would see it if they searched. Most people don't search with quotes.

Great info Jackie! I submitted my first article EZA this past week and just waiting for approval. Once that happens (hopefully!) I think I'll have the confidence to write more.

I have on off-topic question (if that's ok)...when you're trying find out your Google page rank, do you enter you keyword in quotes?

Thanks, as always!!

Right ~ you don't want to use the same keyword you're targeting in your lens because you don't want the article to come up higher in search results than your lens. Just make sure you use your keywords as the anchor text of your links back to your lens. :)

Just to clarify - with the Ezine articles, I don't need to be overly concerned about the keywords etc - it's more a way of getting a back link rather than a high page view article, right? (understanding, that of course, if it gets a lot of views, that's even better!)

Check out this post. While it's written on a free blog it could also be used for EZA.
<a href="http://www.3stepads.com/123630/3-ways-manage-pain-drugs/" rel="nofollow">Inversion therapy with the Ironman Gravity 4000 inversion table</a>

Give each of your benefits 1 paragraph. Save your general topic for the last paragraph of your content. Then in the resource box (usually a different space at EZA) talk about if they've chosen your "general topic" that the "your specific product" is a good choice for that because... kids love it, it works, it's well recommended, best on the market, will make someone happy ~ whatever the reason they should try the product.

And really ~ don't make this too complicated ~ there is NO right or wrong way to do this, as long as you get your keywords in the anchor text of your links. :)

You are so good!! That makes so much sense - I sure hope that eventually this all comes so easily to the rest of us.

So, I would point out all of those "benefits" in a few separate paragraphs and then in the last paragraph I am pointing to my lens or my blog? I'm having a tough time wrapping my head around that part I think.

How about:

let's say the benefit is helping your kid learn to use their imagination.

what are 2 other things that would help kids use their imagination?

maybe: reading to them, play dates with other kids or creating puppet shows?

give a paragraph for each, and in the last paragraph of your article talk about your toy(in general) and how it also helps the kid use their imagination.

In your resource box talk about if you're looking for this kind of toy to help encourage imaginative play for your kid, the Your specific product keyword is a great option.

or something similar. Hopefully that gives you some ideas

Jackie - I am stuck on how to write articles about the "benefits" of may particular products. The first two lenses I have done are about toys. I can understand your example of the benefits of a coffee maker (DUH - I'm from Seattle) and the Ironman.... but what would the benefits be of a toy? That seems to have me a little stuck on how to write the article without sounding like a sales pitch.
