Unfortunately I’ve never had to rewrite the htaccess file. However, you should be able to go into your hosting account. Go to the public html file ~ and go to the site your working on in that folder. Open it up and you should be able to see the htaccess file. Open it up and paste that information at the bottom. don’t delete anything there, just add that at the bottom. I believe that’s how you would do it.

Hi Jackie,

Tonight I follow your tutorial on blog settings and themes. I have done everything according to your information and saved the changes but on the top I read:
You should update your .htaccess now.
I scrolled down and copy and paste the according to this information: If your .htaccess file were writable, we could do this automatically, but it isn’t so these are the mod_rewrite rules you should have in your .htaccess file. Click in the field and press CTRL + a to select all.

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

I saved this in textaditor / notepad (mac) My question is what to do next?

I would not choose an adsense ready site. They are usually packed with WAY too much adsense and make it difficult to take it out. It’s very easy to pop adsense code in where you want it. Much easier than trying to take it out of an adsense theme.

I am trying to get familiar with themes. Is it better to have one that is already Adsense ready if want to get adsense revenue from your blog, or can you easily add it in once you know how to do it with the theme editor feature?
