Welcome. Your site looks good ~ I love the header ~ I’ve always wanted to go on a safari ~ a photo safari really. Anyway… my suggestion would be to add a blog to your site ~ and then start blogging. The new content and ability to target keywords will help you drive traffic to your site. Check out the build a blog section of the articles page to get your site set up and then follow along with our blogging challenges and the steps to create an authority blog to go along with your site. You can also create squidoo lenses or hubs about topics related to your site and then link to your site from those lenses. You can also write articles about related topics, submit them to article directories ~ linking back to your site in the resouce box. (you can find more information on all of these topics on this site. just use the search box in the sidebar or the articles page) It’s a good idea to set up a twitter account (which we’re working on now). There are lots of things you can do to make that site work.

Jackie,

Have you, or others in the group, noticed that Squidoo lenses suddenly take forever to load. It can take up to 4 minutes to load!!! During this time the message “transferring data from http://www.google.com” is displayed in the Firefox status bar. I see people are raising it on the SquidU forum as well. One certainly wouldn’t get any click-throughs at this rate.

Jackie, thanks a lot, I’ll make use of it. For interest sake, on of the lenses are now indexed and after the knoll and the wetpaint I’m sure the other will follow. I have never used Knoll and Wetpaint before and I am a little timid when it comes to new things but I gave it a go!

Margriet,

I’ve installed a plugin called keywordluv for that exact purpose. You should now see a note under the comment area that says if you put your name @your keywords in the name field it will show up with your keywords linked to the url. It’s just one way I choose to give back to my readers. It’s a great way to get sites/lenses indexed (and to get good backlinks back to your site!), so feel free.

Hello Jackie, Yes I mean indexed. No show even if I Google the URL. I will take your advice. I was just worried that there is something we should know as I work pretty in isolation because of financial reasons.

I will post my URl’s in the comments as well. I’m always very scared to do so as I do not want to take advantage.

what do you mean by “listed” ~ indexed? so they are even showing up when you google the specific domain? If they’re not getting indexed I’d say do another round of the initial linking ~ free ad blog posts, hubpages, wetpaint, google knol, post a link on facebook or twitter if you have accounts there ~ the other thing you can do is find use your keywords/url here in the comments ~ that will be a good way to get them indexed. Spiders come to this site pretty frequently so you can use the comments here as a way to let the search engines find your lenses.

If you’re talking about getting them ranked ~ so they show up on the first page ~ that just takes time, and link building.

Hello Jackie, I thought I’ll just ask a question here as all of us working on our lenses may have this problem. I have big problems getting my lenses listed. All the lenses I’ve built the last two weeks are still not listed even after I’ve done everything I normally do to get them listed and even more. Do you know of any changes in Google that we have to keep in mind now? I know they said they are going to pay more attention to your content. I tried adding a little more content, but still no luck! I know this is not a forum, but you are the only one I can ask and as it has to do with our “Christmas Lenses” I feel I can ask this question here as all your readers will benefit from the answer.
