In terms of backlinks ~ if you use your domain name in the description area of a video you will get a backlink for it yes, and that’s a good idea.

I don’t think you get links for commenting because I believe they use your youtube id as the name ~ however ~ it’s a good way to get more people viewing videos you’ve made ~ being social in a social networking community is always going to be a benefit in some way.

Thanks for another highly informative post. I’m one of those who hate video and, particularly, those bandwidth abusers who start playing or uploading videos automatically (Youtube is a big culprit – thank heavens for the Firefox Flashblock Add-on!). However, I know I have to change my mindset and start making use of video. Just a couple of questions. Does one get any mileage in terms of backlinks by :-
1. Linking one’s blog to Youtube or is it merely a convenience factor?
2. Commenting on Youtube videos?

I was considering doing a video and then thought I needed to do some research on SEO for video so I could make sure and get the most out of it. So it sounds like all that is necessary is keyword(s) in title and description and then add your URL. Is that all. If so, you just saved me a ton of research…thanks.

P.S. Does it cost anything to load into YouTube?
