Do You Need a Squidoo Lens Review?

2009 September 24
by Jackie

When you create a lens you probably check the stats ~ you know the search volume, the competition, how many other lenses there already are on Squidoo for your topic. Hopefully you create lenses only when those numbers look good.

I’ve had times when the numbers have looked PERFECT. I just knew these were going to be killer, money  making lenses, and yet, sometimes they do nothing.

That happens to everyone once in a while, but if it’s happening to you ALL the time there’s probably something that’s “not quite right” with the way you’re building your lenses. You might be missing a step in your search engine optimization, your content could be to blame, or maybe you just misunderstood how to identify whether something was truly competitive or not.

It’s really frustrating when you put so much time and effort into something and it just doesn’t work. You don’t get traffic, you don’t make any sales ~ it makes you want to quit.

Here’s the thing:

It’s usually something really small that is missing, and it’s usually something that is really easy to fix.

However ~ you don’t know what you don’t know until you know you don’t know it.

That’s where it’s nice to have an experienced set of eyes take a look at what you’ve got going on.  This has not been a service I’ve EVER seen advertised anywhere online.

I’m offering to review your lens. I will take a look at them. I will check over your keywords, your competition, your content, your SEO, your linking, your product ~ and tons of other little things that are easily missed.

I will put together a report for you about your lens, what is missing, what might be wrong and anything else that might help you create a better performing lens. Your report will be emailed to your paypal address  in pdf format once it is completed.

Not only will I let you know what’s wrong ~ but I will also give you some tips and hints on how to fix it and make it RIGHT!!

I have done lens reviews for people at my membership site ~ but have never offered my services to the general public.  Today, with a bunch of people working on Christmas Cash lenses it seems only right to make sure people are getting started in the right direction.

There’s no sense in creating a ton of lenses if they are all missing something and just don’t work.

Make sure your lenses are the best they can be ~ grab a lens review and get started on the right foot.

I have charged $25 for single lens reviews, but today I want to make it seriously worth your while. I really want you to get off on the right foot, and get these lenses working FOR you!! So I am going to offer a special. 2 for the price of one.

2 Lenses reviewed for $25.

How do I order my lens review?

All you need to do is click the “buy now” button below. You will be taken directly to paypal. Once you log in you will see a live link that says  “Add special instructions to the seller” When you click on it a box opens up for you to add info. Please put the urls of the two (2) lenses you would like reviewed.

Make sure you have the actual lens url ~ for example:  www.squidoo.com/yourlensname

I look forward to reviewing your lens, and helping you get them performing at their optimum level!!

kelly, this is first time i saw someone who offer this kind of service. what can we expect from your review? i’m sure everyone try hard to make lens that convert. suppose we let you review, and after we fix all the thing that wrong from your view.. does it mean our lens will convert? thanks in advance…

    Hi Bryan,

    I’m Jackie actually. :)

I certainly can not guarantee that your lens will convert. That would be silly. There are a million variables to making things sell/not sell. I can however, help you create a lens that will be found by the search engines (provided you’ve chosen appropriate keywords). I can help you with all the things I’ve mentioned in this post.

A lot of times there are really simple things you can do to change a lens that will make it show up higher in the search results, and get traffic.

No one else IS doing this type of service, and it’s a bummer because people keep cranking out lenses that have a couple key problems, but because they don’t know it they keep doing the same thing over and over again, and just wonder why it’s not working. At some point they get frustrated and they say “this squidoo thing just doesn’t work.” or “google doesn’t like squidoo anymore” and it isn’t that, it’s most likely something very fixable that is wrong with the lenses.

So … no I can’t guarantee you any results. I can guarantee that I can give you my insight from building hundreds of lenses and making money every month from Squidoo. I can give you an honest evaluation of your lenses, and I can give you some honest feedback about what is working, and what might help it work better.

If that’s what you feel like you need, super ~ give me a shout, if it’s not, that’s ok too. :)

    oho..jackie..sorry, my bad :)

    Thanks for your well explanation.

I am sure your service will help us a lot. Currently, i use your guide and jennifer (potpiegirl) to create lens. So far, few of my lens rank well in google but no one convert. all my lens are promoting amazon stuff like mobile phone, game console and camera. Did you have any experience promoting that stuff with squidoo? did it convert well?

    thanks jackie..

What I find works best is to give people something they are either looking to buy, or something that solves a problem. I’ve had a lot of luck with parenting stuff that solves a particular problem and other than that I do a lot of specific things so I can just give people what they are looking for.

When you go for such general stuff you end up getting people who are just looking for information, checking prices etc, but aren’t really ready to buy. Here’s a really good article that talks about this concept: Understanding the Buying Cycle

Jackie, I’m wanting to pay for you to look over my lens. I’m really having a hard time with this ‘keyword’ stuff and maybe that’s my problem. I’ve only created one lens because I’m so new at this and want to understand things before i continue to keep creating and wasting time. When I go to my paypal account, I don’t see a button that says “add special instructions”.

Also, my paypal account have no money in it. Do I need to add money to the account for this to work.

I’m really looking forward to having you look over my content. What a great idea, especially for someone so new to this. Hopefully I’ll learn a few good things.

Let me know about the account. I’m ready to get started!!!!

You can add a bank account or a credit card to your paypal acct then the money can come from there. ~ If you don’t see the special instructions then just shoot me an email once you’ve paid with the address of the lenses you’d like me to look at.

    jackie..

thanks for the link. i found its really useful for me. which mean, if we target on late buying cycle, chances to convert them into buyer are high rite.

i have experience where i bid on keyword “where to buy product x” and directly link them to merchant (using ppc), and it does convert. Thinking that it will be good if i can get free traffic from SE on that keyword, i setup few lenses + blog + article on that keyword and push them with lot of backlink. My lens rank well, and getting lot of traffic from article and other few site, but, no sales at all.

So i guess, squidoo only work on certain product. But, i cant simply judge base on few lenses only. i will create more and more lens helping them in making the best decision to buy something. And, if i found all of them are failed.. look like i should refer them for you :) hopefully you will stick on that price (really really great price actually). Thanks again Jackie.. you are helping me so much..

@bryan Yeah you definitely can’t judge from a few items. There are a lot of places the sales funnel can go wonky. How much traffic is a “lot” of traffic. I ask this because it often takes 100 click throughs to get 1 sale. So you may have a “lot” of traffic, but how many click throughs are you getting? Until you have 200 or 300 CLICK THROUGHS and no sales, you can’t really say it’s not working.

Also your ppc was a one click thing ~ they saw the ad they went to the merchant. Now they are searching on google, finding your article, clicking on the link, going to a lens, and then MAYBE getting to the merchant. That’s a lot of space to have something work “not quite right” along the way.

Hang in there, and keep taking action, the more you do the better you get.

totally agree with you. there is many space or gaps before they decide to purchase. i found that squidoo is full of ads, think that it can be lead to “leaking” traffic too :) good news is.. one of the lens do convert. about 50+ visitor and 13 clickout to merchant and 1 sales. Squidoo really works!~

NICE!! Yeah that is the price of using Squidoo is all the ads that you have no control over ~ which is why it’s best to have your own sites so you have total control ~ but Squidoo works great when you’re on a budget, or want the power of an authority site behind you right out of the gate.

    Hi Jackie,

When I click on the Buy Now button, I am taken to the home page of PayPal. When I login, I am then shown my dashboard. There’s no reference of you or any type of transaction being made.

I’ve tried in Firefox and IE and get the same response.

    Please advise. :)

    Hi Jackie,

Just wanted to say Thank You so much for the 1 to 1 Email Coaching session.

It was great to have someone there to ask those “silly” questions which you feel you really ought to know the answer to – but don’t!!!

I would certainly recommend you to others in need of help and may even be back myself.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Jackie,

I wish I took your offer sooner than later, my lens is locked and I am not sure why.I wanted to finish all the steps before I order a review. I’ve done up to step 4 and when I tried to print step 5, I found out that hotmail has gone and deleted my old emails. I did not know that they can delete your emails and it won’t show unless you try to open that email and find that its been deleted.

To cut a long story short is it possible to add those step by step to this page or somewhere we can find it, or if not may you please re-send me step 5,6, and 7 please maybe that will help me find the reason my lens was locked.

One last thing can I order lens review for my lens even if it is locked or what?

Your lens is locked because it has in some way violated the squidoo terms of service. You can read about them here: http://internetmarketingformommies.com/squidoos-new-terms-of-service/. If your lens is locked chances are that Squidoo is going to delete the lens so a review would be irrelevant.

    Hi, Jackie

Do you know anybody or people, especially the ones that have success with following your Squidoo Christmas Blueprint, that are willing to review my Squidoo lenses for free or nominal charges?

    Hi, Jackie.

I am already aware that you do lens review and you do charge. I am trying to avoid getting money out of pockets as much as possible. That’s why I am asking if you know anyone that has success following you and is willing to review my lens for free or some lesser charges.

Plus, I have 15 lenses (This is the first time I put up Squidoo lenses – also the most I’ve done in my internet marketing venture).

well congrats on taking action. I can tell you for one ~ that it would be a great idea to use the name/url fields when you make a comment to link back to one of your lenses. :) Instead of putting NA in the url field. :) This builds links to your lenses and will help you get better rankings for the keywords you’ve targeted in your lens.

    Hello there Jackie!
Thanks for your wonderful service…I was wondering weather its good to buy a lens or setting up one yourself is better…also, can I write any thing in my lens (in case of creating it myself) given that your review “approves” it?

    Many thanks,

    M.

  27. 2010 January 29

@Musty ~ if you’re going to be using lenses regularly in your business then I suggest you learn to make them yourself. It can get rather costly to have them made ~ especially if you’re going to need a lot of them.

If you are trying to sell a product from your lens there is a bit of a formula to it ~ if you take a look at the articles page you will find the process outlined. If you’re trying to sell products from your lenses I will steer you toward that process in the review ~ so might as well test it out from the beginning. :)

If you haven’t already downloaded the blueprint it will show you the process as well and you can print it out ~ then come here for the specific tutorials.
