Email Could Not Be Sent . . . Error

2007 December 13
by Jackie

Today I wrote the previous post and when I hit the “publish” button, instead of a nice little view your post page I received a solid white page with the words

[tag]the email could not be sent possible reason; your host may have disable the mail function[/tag]

What the . . .

Can you say PANIC? Just a little.

I first went to my blog and sure enough there is that message again. I IMed a friend to see if she was getting the message when she went to my blog. SURE ENOUGH.

Called the hosting company.

Spent 22 minutes on the phone ~ mostly on hold ~ (Cheesy music on speakerphone got Hanna dancing)

To be told It is a wordpress problem.

OH S**T what do I do now?

I went to the  support forum, and left a message. Heaven only knows how long it will take someone to get back to me. I can’t have this crazy message in place of my blog.

I kept searching and like the heaven’s opened up I found a link to a fix.

An amazing blog post to fix the email could not be sent error

eBestAgent has identified 4 reasons you may be experiencing this error and has posted easy to understand instructions that include pictures telling you step by step how to fix each of these possibilities.

It was a little scary I have never even been in the mySQL databases before.  It made me a little nervous to go now, but I had to fix my blog.

I followed the instructions and only had to get through the second possibility before my blog was back online!!! woo hoo.

Downfall of having hosted blog:

You have to fix it yourself

Bonus of having hosted blog:

You have to fix it yourself ~ and when you do you feel like the queen of the world!

**Turns out the problem in is in the “Comment Relish” plugin. It jams up the database when it sends a trackback message** Did that sound like I know what I’m talking about? That may not be exactly the problem, because I don’t know exactly what I’m talking about, but that’s the jist of the problem. I recommend if you are using [tag]Comment Relish[/tag] you deactivate it until the author comes up with a fix.  Or at least book mark the ERROR FIX
