Everything you say is OUT THERE!

I was a little low on ideas this morning, so I went surfing around the net checking out what other people are writing about. I found another one of my articles published :) I found another great WAHM blog, and then I stopped by and checked out Blogger Noob’s blog. He has been on a rant about The Reverse Funnel System for a bit now. I don’t really know anything about it, so I did some searching to check it out.

Now don’t worry this post really has nothing to do with the Reverse Funnel System. It has to do with the NEW world wide web. Web 2.0. Last week I read Rick Schefren’s Attention Age Doctrine Part 2 It was a very interesting read, and I recommend it to anyone working online.

I especially appreciated how he talked about on the new “web” filled with online communities everything you do or say is OUT THERE, and fast. You can make one customer angry and the whole web may know about it within an hour ~ depending on who you are and who the customer is of course.

Knowing and understanding this concept is really important when blogging. Everything you blog will be available to the world forever. The internet is a permanent record. (you know they talked about those in high school, now it really exists). So be aware of what you are saying, and how you are saying.

Back to my reverse funnel system example. I “met” Jonathon Budd at myspace. I loved his page, he did a really good job of being a real person. I never looked at RFS as it’s just not my cup of tea, but I did join Jonathon’s opt in list, and learned tons from it. I had a pretty high opinion of Jonathon Budd.

Until today.

During my quick research detour this morning I came across this page, and conversation about the reverse funnel system. I was reading and there pops in Jonathon Budd. My bud, my teacher, not being so very teacher like.

Take a look at the conversation and see what you think.

I am a coach/mentor/consultant, as is Jonathon, and I would definitely think twice before engaging in this kind of conversation, knowing that anyone who googles my name or my business is going to see it. Yesterday, if something good had come along I would have wanted to work with Jonathon Budd, today, not so much.

Don’t let that happen to you. Remember, whatever you type is OUT THERE. Whether it’s in a forum, on your blog, or in any web 2.0 community. It’s out there. Make sure you are saying things you would want you new “prospects/clients” to see. :)

That’s it for today, gotta go give the baby a bath, she just squeezed the juice box. :)
