The Host is Dreamhost. I have many WP sites on it, and they all upgrade automatically. Prior to doing the upgrade, the complete site is backed up & the backup placed in your files. However, I have never had a failure, so have never needed the backup.

This only happens if you use their one click install for WP...
From Dreamhost's panel...
Unless you choose our "Simple Installation" mode (only supported by some apps), you are responsible for upgrading your old installations should any critical security holes be discovered!

I don't know of any hosting company that upgrades for you... I think he may have meant it provides him the means to upgrade, just clicking the button. There are some hosting companies that don't have cpanel... and don't have easy install/upgrade of wordpress. I think he was coming from one of those situations. (but I could be totally wrong).
I think you'd be asking for trouble if your hosting automatically upgraded your wordpress ~ upgrading without turning off your plugins can result in a terrible mess.

@bruce - that would be a neat feature, having your host automatically upgrade each time there has been a revision in WP, but what effect does it have on your plugins, as wouldn't they all have to be compatible with the upgrade? I see instances of plugin failures if you don't monitor the WP upgrades...

I recently switched my hosting and now find that the new one automatically both installs (on C Panel, but similar) Wordpress, as well as upgrades it whenever a new version appears. To think my old one I had to do everything manually, and I sure wish I'd found a guide like yours when I started out.

Great write up Jackie!

I wish I would've had a step-by-step tutorial to guide me through this process when starting out. I figured it out on my own with persistence but many folks would've given up altogether.

There are a lot of newbies out there scratching there heads wondering how to complete this part of the website creation process. I'll definitely recommend folks here in the future.

Choosing the right or attractive domain name is one of the most important keys and crucial part of creating your own website brand. Attractive domain name and substantial contents will draw much visitors to your websites. In my case I attached my name, "remco" with the keywords "workwith" to give my website a unique and professional brand. But it's your choice whether you want your domain purely keywords or keywords with your company name or your name.

Are you commenting in regards to my comment to Russell? His blog is a great start to an authority blog, which is why I answered him as I did. Just keep in mind the topic and the other factors we've discussed on choosing a topic if you go with a domain name you already have.
