Get More Backlinks ~ Get More Traffic

2007 October 2
by Jackie

If you are looking to get more backlinks check out this software I recently found. It’s called Comment Hut. It is very easy to use, and best of all there is a free version.

Let me tell you a little bit about what it does and why it’s helpful in getting traffic.

What is a backlink?

Backlinks are a link to your website from another website. The search engines love these. When they see the link on someone else’s site it sends the spiders over to your site and they index your site. It allows gives you “points” with google. The game is basically ~ whoever has the most backlinks wins! So your job is to get more backlinks!

Where do I put backlinks?

You can put backlinks in any number of locations. You can use them in signatures in forums, you can pay for them, but today we are talking about putting them in blogs.

You find a blog that is about a similar topic as what you will be linking to. You read the blog and then you make an insightful and meaningful comment to the post. When you are finished with your post you also put a link to the site you want the search engines to go look at. (and the other people reading the blog for that matter) :)

How do I make a backlink?

Do make a backlink it takes a couple steps. (they’re real easy don’t worry)

1. Know your url. If you want your link to send people to the front page, or to a specific article or blog post, make sure you have the specific url for that. For example it might be the difference between www.momtohanna.wordpress.com which is the main page of my personal blog or this: http://momtohanna.wordpress.com/2007/10/01/just-be-it/ which is a specific post.

2. Now you need a little html magic. You will need to use this html code to make a link: <a href=”your url”>Your keyword</a>
3. You will need a keyword for your link. Don’t use a keyword that is in the title of your blog/article/website, because the search engines will already see it in your url. Choose something else that is relevant to where you are sending people. For example, using the above post I might use the key word The Magic Happens.

Let’s use the example from my blog and I’ll show you what it looks like, in code and then the way it appears in the comment.

<a href=”http://momtohanna.wordpress.com/2007/10/01/just-be-it/”>The Magic Happens</a>

Here’s what it will look like in my comment:

The Magic Happens

Now that we know what we’re doing, let’s talk about how Comment Hut helps us do it.

Comment Hut is NOT a blog spamming software. It does not leave your comments and backlinks.

Comment Hut DOES search out blogs by keyword and then tell you what the page rank is of the blog.

You then go and read the post, and post your comment with your backlink.

It is a huge time saver. You no longer have to spend all your time looking for appropriate blogs which can take forever. You also now know what the page rank is for the blog and you can choose to post a comment or not depending on the page rank.

It’s a great piece of software, and it will save you time, help you get more backlinks, and you will see more traffic.

Good Luck!

    Jackie,
Hello, it’s me again. I wanted to confirm something that I asked before but wanted to make sure I understood correctly. Am I limited to 9 links on my lens if I’m linking back to my Amazon account? If so, are pictures that have links tied to them included in that count?

    As always,

Thanks so much for your help.

Amazon is on the white list ~ it is my understanding you can link to them as many times as you want. ~ if there is a limit, yes linked images would count as well.

    Hi Jackie,

I just found this post yesterday. I always thought the keyword (being optimized for) should be used as the anchor text in the backlink.

When creating backlinks for the Christmas Cash lenses, I used the specific product name as the anchor text in the link, and I used the product name as the title of the blog post. Should I change something?

I also just realized that I have two separate blog posts on two different sites using the same title. They should be different titles, right?

Thanks so much for all that you’re doing and all the information you’ve provided!

What made you think that was wrong? Sounds like you’ve done it just right to me.

Yes you should use your well researched keyword in the title of your lens, as well as the anchor text of your links (wherever you are making links). It’s up to you if you want to use the keyword in your blog post titles ~ if you’re linking to amazon as well as your lens on your blog post it’s probably fine ~ you can just rank 3 of your sites for the same keyword.

You don’t want free ads, and eza articles ranking higher because they only lead back to your lens (because that’s their purpose) ~ not directly to the sales page.

How exactly does the html code you describe above turn into a hyper link? Do I need to first create it in my blog somewhere? It doesn’t seem to work when I try to add it to a blog post:(

New to all this so I’m sure I’m missing a step.

Yep ~ it will work in a blog post, but you will have to click the “source” or “html” button somewhere in your text editor. However, it will be much easier in a blog post to just highlight the words you want to be your anchor text and then click the chain link icon in your text editor. When you click the chain link icon it will open up a box where you just put the web address you want to link to. If you put in the address you want to link to point to it will automatically create the hot link you’re trying to do with the html.

    Oh.my.gosh, Jackie!

I am so glad I saw your post at SSWT-Elite. Because I followed your link there to here and have now been reading your posts about backlinking.

This one, especially, has helped me immensely. I’ve read other blog posts at other sites about backlinking, and with this one, I do believe I’ve finally “got all the dots connected!”

Your example is what did it.

    Thank you, thank you.

I’m adding another comment here, because I see the link I added to my post above is not an active link.

Since I am a live person (not a bot) I wanted to add the correct link.

I apologize for any inconvenience this might pose for you.
