Guest Post at DayJobNuker & Using Google Alerts

Check it out! I’m the guest poster at Day Job Nuker today. It’s one of my favorite blogs and I was pretty excited by the opportunity to post on his blog. I was even more thrilled when he accepted my post.

Being a guest poster can be a pretty lucrative traffic provider if you choose where you are going to guest post wisely. If you find a blog with a large audience, and a loyal following it can be great. Of course, you have to write a quality post and provide great content on your blog.

It is also a great way for the person you are writing for to get some extra traffic. As you can see I am telling my entire readership about his blog and encouraging them to go over and check it out. It’s a mutually beneficial proposition. And DayJobNuker didn’t have to post today. :) If you are going on vacation or need a break from time to time, why not ask for people to be guest posters on your blog? Make sure you have a good stable readership and enough traffic to make it worth the person’s effort first though.

DayJobNuker posted on his blog that he was looking for guest posters. If you would like to do some guest posting I am sure you could google guest poster and come up with some opportunities to look at. When I googled it I was provided with a multitude of blogs that have used guest posters. You can then go to each blog and see what they look for in a guest poster and if you fit the bill. In fact you might want to set up a google alert for yourself. This would tell each time someone in the blogosphere mentions guest posting, and it would give you a good chance to get there early before the opportunity passes.

If you are not familiar with google alerts, it’s just another one of the many amazing tools offered by Google. I know there are many on the bash google bandwagon lately, but you have to admit they offer so many amazing things. Back to alerts. Go into your google account. If you have your account open already, click on “my account” tab. You will see a list of things on the right hand side. Alerts should be the first thing on the list. Click on alerts. It will open up a little form asking you want you want to be alerted to. Use specific words and put quotes around them so it will provide you with alerts specific to what you are looking for. It offers you the choice to only have alerts come from blogs, or all of the world wide web. For this, blogs will probably suffice. Decide how often you want these alerts, once a day, or as they happen. Click save and you are good to go. You will shortly begin receiving alerts each time someone, somewhere in cyberspace talks about what you want to hear about.

Google alerts are a great way to keep up with what is going on in your niche, and what people are saying about you. It’s also a great way to see when your site/posts are indexed by google. I have alerts on all my niche keywords as well as my name. It’s so fun to see each time I am mentioned out there in cyberville.

Ok, I’m starting to get carried away now. Go check out my post at DayJobNuker, and then head over and set up some alerts for yourself.

Talk to you later.
