It automatically checks with and without the www.

hi Pat,

As I've said before bookmarking is not one of the best ways to get good links. One of the reasons for this is that you don't get to use html ~ you don't get a clickable link using keywords with bookmarking. You simply bookmark (make a notation) of the url you want to save.

It sounds like what you're dong is creating your account. You have to do that first to have a place to save your links. If you insist on doing social bookmarking (instead of using better, more effective link building strategies) I suggest you pick 1 or 2 bookmarking sites and use them exclusively. for example: delicious, and stumble upon.

Wasting this much time on social bookmarking is not an effective use of time. You are going to get much better links using sites like the free ad blogs, blogger blogs, RSS submission etc.

How close are you to doing anything with social bookmarking? I have messed around with it the last few nights and I have no idea if I'm getting anywhere. I don't know what I am doing. I enter information, probably wasting my time. I don't seem to be able to figure out how to set up any place for my anchor text to go. I have no idea what the heck I'm doing. I'm trying to backlink but I'm totally clueless. I don't understand where it goes.
Some sites ask for your business information but I don't know how to link or show my link unless I have a specific place to make HTML stuff. Where I'm at, nothing fits that description. How do I get it to show up in these sites? I screw around trying to get somewhere but I have no idea what is supposed to get put where. I understand why I want to do social bookmarking but I just lack the understanding of how to get it going. I have watched how to start the sites but nothing seems to relate to Squidoo in them. I'm willing and I'm putting the time in. I just can't get it to happen.

It takes time ~ sometimes it happens quicker than others. As I have said about this topic in many different places ~ quit checking how many links are showing up for your lens. Check to see if your lens is where you want it to be in the search rankings (page 1). If it's not there ~ then keep building links.

The thing about links is this ~ google will NOT tell you ALL the links your site has. It keeps that a secret ~ it's part of their secret sauce ~ so you will never know how exactly ~ or even close to ~ how many links you have according to Google.

What you need to know is if you aren't showing up for your keyword where you want, then you need more keywords.

Just skip the whole health section of Squidoo ~ I've not found it to be very accurate or helpful. :)

Hi Jackie,

How long does it usually take for backlinks to appear against a lens? As of today, squidoo is telling me that I have zero links pointing to my URL of my lens. This
doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.... also, should I be concerned by the
comments I am seeing in my lens when I click on 'health' and it is telling me I have
no other sites linking to my lens. It wasn't saying that yesterday? That alert is in red.

It takes time for google to find you sometimes. Make sure you've done your free ad blogs, make sure you've submitted your RSS feed, make posts on your blog ~ just make sure you're doing the linking ~ do a wetpaint or a hub if you've done all this and it's still not indexed or try another round of free ad blogs.

It takes time, but it will happen, sometimes it takes longer than others.
