I find it tough, a 9-5 internet marketing then extra ciriculum internet marketing. Theres not enough hours in the day to do it all.

I find the biggest obstacle for me to get over is completing my wife`s long ToDo list she leaves for me every morning

I find it very difficult to get motivated and stay focused now that the weather has improved resulting in more outside chores. But yet again I made my wife happy when I took down the exterior xmas lights last week.

For me, I manage it by being really stubborn and to develop routines. The tendency is to want to work all the time but as the dishes pile up and I realize I still haven’t gone to the gym – I know this isn’t a good thing.

I’ve made a routine of going to the gym. I try to keep the house tidy by setting the timer for an hour and cleaning that amount each day. As far as having a personal life, I value time spent with my husband and going out, so I make a lot of time for that, too. I even tag along on business trips.

This flexibility is why I chose to work from home, so I need to take advantage of it.

Yes, I do my housework and gardening ~ hubby does the lawn. I *try* to work the Flylady program ~ which is setting up simple routines so clean in 5 an d15 minute spurts, and once you get an area clean you just do a quick thing to keep it clean. ex. swiping your toilet and wiping bathroom counters in the morning when you’re done. Takes a second but keeps the bathroom looking nice.

Dishes was always my downfall ~ I have finally wrangled a little routine that keeps my dishes done, and the kitchen relatively clean. I also at some point decided that having a spotless house (like I grew up in) wasn’t the most important thing to me and let go of the guilt. I do laundry on Sundays (sometimes, like today, in between trips to the lake to fish).

Mondays we go to the library in the afternoon ~ and then come home and vacuum the house.

Gardening is part of fun and learning in the afternoon.

All in all what I’ve learned is coming up with little routines or “rituals” that are part of my day that make it easy (er) to keep up with the house.

This post will really help a lot of people out, including myself.

Now I have another question that may or may not be pertinent to you. Do you do your own housework and yard work? Where do you fit that in?

My biggest problem is working full time and then coming home to a messy home. I feel guilty when working on housework because I know I should be doing something online and vice versa.

Yeah it sure was easier to spend 16 hour a day in front of the computer when I didn’t have a little one dragging me out of my chair! It’s kind of nice now to realize I don’t have to necessarily put in 16 hours a day to continue to create success.

Hi Jackie, I love this post. This is my biggest struggle to date. I built my money-making website from about 1997 to about 2002, because I wanted to, because it was fun, because I was really interested and passionate about it.

In 2003 (when I put google adsense on it) it started making me 30,000 a year. In 2003 I had a child whom I now homeschool.

I have spun my wheels for 8 years now, and I still make that same 30K a year. I LOVE that 30K and it has enabled me to not have to work forever – but now it’s time.

I will no longer sit in my office for 3 hours and clear my inbox and read a bunch of other people’s stuff and call that working! That’s now working! That’s not making me a cent!

Hey Jackie! This is a great post. I can certainly relate because I can get overwhelmed trying to find time for family, a full time job, and blogging. I make a list every Sunday of what I want to get accomplished for my blog for the week. Sometimes I get it all done and sometimes it’s a struggle. I’ve learned over the last couple of months that there are several things that I can squeeze in when I only have a small amount of time to work. Every check mark that I make against the list is another step forward.
