How to Create Interesting Content for Articles, Lenses and Blog Posts
Feb 18
I have been talking with one of my readers quite a bit over the last few months. She has built this amazing website. It’s filled with great products, in fact, it’s a whole kitchen store and more! She’s put her heart and soul and hours into building this site, and has become frustrated because she’s seeing no traffic.
I asked her what kind of links she was building for this site ~ how are people finding you?
This is when a bit of a lightbulb seemed to go off. She was ready to give up all that time and effort and this site and go make squidoo lenses on weight loss. OH no no no. We can’t have that. This is a great site, it just needs to let the world know it’s out there!
So how do you do this?
Some words come to mind ~ squidoo, blogs, articles, hubpages, knol I think you are getting my drift
So we talked about some keywords and how to go about this process, but the big question she had is “what do I write??”
I don’t want to give up her stuff, so let’s take a look at something I’ve been working on and I’ll try to show you a few different ways you can position your content to make it easier to write.
I recently picked up MindZoom Subliminal software ~ which I’m loving by the way. These techniques can work for pretty much any product ~ digital or real world.
1. Review
This is the most obvious. Just review the product, what you like about it, what you don’t, how well it works, how it’s helped you etc.
Here’s an example MindZoom Subliminal Software Review
2. Tips
Help the reader out. If they are looking for something you’re writing about help them out by giving them tips ~ whether it’s tips to choose the best, things to look for when you are buying such an item etc. You can often times find this information by looking at the product description. The benefits they are touting in the description are probably good things for people to look for.
If you check out the mindzoom page and scroll down to the “let’s check out the features” in detail you will quickly see many things you could recommend people look for in a subliminal software. This can be found on just about any sales page. If you are working with a physical product, look at the product description. or go to Amazon and check out the features there. At some point you can recommend one you like, and of course it’s going to have all the things you recommended.
Here’s my example: Tips to Choose the Best Subliminal Software
3. Related Topics
Those two are pretty obvious, so let’s get down to something more interesting. I find most people think they have to discuss specifically the thing they are trying to promote. This just isn’t true. Especially if you are writing for backlinks, you can write about anything related to your topic.
So for this subliminal software example, I wrote an entire article about subliminal affirmations. What they are, what they do, how you write them etc. At some point in the article about subliminal affirmations I talked about using subliminal software to show your subliminal affirmations on your computer screen.
Here’s another example of this. I recently finished reading John Assaraf’s book The Answer. It was FANTASTIC and if you are building a business I highly recommend you read it right away ~ but I digress. Seeing how much I loved that book I did a review of the book. At some point in the book he recommends employing tools such as subliminal software in your life. There ya go, my keyword anchor text.
Here’s another unrelated example. I have a lens on how to make diet shakes. In that lens I give diet shake recipes and other information. Throughout the lens I provide a link, within the content, to a specific blender that rocks for making smoothies and diet shakes. See what I mean? My site is not about blenders at all ~ but recommending a blender is totally related to what I am doing.
This is a great way to get content for lenses and other content sites. You don’t have to write about your topic specifically each and every time. I have started a squidoo lens for a book review for The Answer. I will include a link out to my subliminal software site from that lens.
This is really my favorite way to create content on sites that are not my main money site. This allows the reader to move to your information in a way that is completely UNsalesy. (is that even a word?) And if you are just looking to get properly anchor texted links, this is a perfect way to go about it.
You can even go back to some of your older lenses or hubs and add links in, if they fit.
Update: Sometimes you can just go straight to the “horses mouth” as it were. Last night I got an email from EzineArticles.com with a link to a bunch of Article templates! Holy Wow, talk about some great ideas on how to write articles. Check them out, you will find lots of ways you probably never even imagined.
If all this content creation is completely overwhelming for you I suggest you take a look at Unique Article Wizard. You can write one article, do some presto chango to it and the service will then create an almost unlimited number of unique versions of your article that you can take and put up all over the place.
I switched to unique article wizard about a month ago, and I am very impressed. More than being impressed by the service I’m impressed with myself. I am now actually getting all the content up and links in, all around the internet like I’m supposed to be doing. The whole content creation portion of my marketing system is actually getting done now. It feels good.
I could start going on and on about UAW, yes, I’m that happy, but this is a post about content creation. I’ll do my unique article wizard review here shortly. Just getting some numbers gathered until then.
I hope this post has helped you see how you can create content in a number of different ways. If you have any questions or need a little help just leave me a comment below.
