Internet Marketing ~ Ask and You Just Might Get It!

Feb 17

Internet Marketing is a funny business. In some ways it is just so cut throat and in other ways I find the people of internet marketing are some of the nicest around!!

This week has been an interesting example of a rule I have always held true. If you don’t ask ~ you don’t get! It goes a little beyond the basics of that statement for me. I am a believer in the Law of Attraction. If you want to use the law of attraction in your life you have to get used to actually asking for what you do want!

It’s really easy for most people to have a pretty good grasp and be able to talk about what’s going wrong in life. But when you ask people what it is they do want ~ the answers are a little less quick in coming. I have been practicing asking for and focusing on what I do want in life for quite a while now. Not only expressing the desires I have so the universe can move mountains to bring me opportunities to make them happen, but actually asking for what I want from someone when they might be able to help me. :) Novel concept huh?

This week I had a couple great examples of asking for what you want come to me. I’d like to share.

I received a comment on my Quick Easy Social Bookmarking post. The reader complimented the system mentioned they were using it in conjunction with another site. Ok great. I didn’t really think much about it and to tell you the truth I did not go look at the site they mentioned in the comment.

However, a few days later I got an email.

Hi Jackie,

I am sure you get many recommendations from readers, but I wanted to ask you please to read this e-mail before dismissing it as simple spam and consider writing about a free resource that I believe will be of great use to your readers.

I am a parent and entrepreneur and I know all about the challenge of balancing work and personal activities and managing one’s time effectively. http://www.netrocket.com is a site that helps users organize and schedule their online browsing so that they can effectively keep track of all the useful sites and resources they find. It differentiates itself from standard social bookmarking sites by focusing first and foremost on the individual and their needs.

I hope that you will consider reviewing or writing about netrocket.com as I feel that it can help many people in their day to day lives.

Thanks and keep up the great work on Internet Marketing for Mommies,

Uri Kerbel

Now it doesn’t look like the messages came from the same person ~ but on the internet who knows. I do appreciate people asking for what they want. So I decided to take a look at Netrocket. I will write up my thoughts about Netrocket in a later post ~ I want to work with it for a while before I tell you what I think. By taking a chance and writing this email, asking for what they wanted/needed they got it.

I believe in the magic of the universe and I also understand nothing in this world just falls in your lap. You at the very least have to ask for it!

Which brings me to the second example of Internet Marketing and asking for what you want.

I have this Cloth Diaper lens on Squidoo. It is in fact, the very first lens I ever made. I started it before I really knew how to monetize or use squidoo to make money. I just wanted to keep all the information I was finding in one place so I could easily find it later.

I have since learned about making money with squidoo, and have tweaked the lens a bit to be able to make some money. I have gotten traffic from all the search engines except Google. I thought it was kind of weird so I would make some changes and still no google love.

I am a big fan of Pot Pie Girl ~ the author of Squidoo Profit System. Her blog ROCKS. She gives away so much great information on SEO and Squidoo it’s not even funny, and she is sweet and kind about it too. :)

I took a chance, I figured if anyone could help me figure this problem out it would PotPieGirl! I shot her a quick email and asked her if she would be willing to take a look at my Cloth Diaper lens and review it for me. I also asked if she could help me figure out why I’m not getting traffic from google.

WOW. Ask and It Is Given. I think it was the very same day, up goes the first post about my cloth diaper lens. Yes, I said first post. It is so far a series of two posts. If you are struggling with Squidoo, finding keywords, getting traffic run over there and read those two posts. (go ahead ~ it will open in a new window so you don’t lose your place here)

Way more than I ever expected, and it never would have happened if I hadn’t asked!

Whether you are wanting a squidoo lens reviewed, someone to review your site, a question answered, maybe even a link from another blogger you will never get it if you don’t ask.

I know this scares the bejesus out of some people. But what if they say *gasp* no? So ~ they say no. AND What if they say yes? There’s the magic. I had no idea Potpiegirl would write up a very lengthy at least two part review of my site, and I never expected her to go to that much trouble. The fact is she did, and it was all because I asked.

We get pretty insulated in our little worlds in front of our computer screens. It’s time to get out there, make some friends, ask for what you want. It’s a new Web 2.0 world out there. You can no longer do it alone!

I challenge each and every one of you to ask for what you want this week. Then come back and leave a comment and tell me all about it! I can’t wait to hear. :)

Have a marvelous Sunday and a wonderful week. Be back on Tuesday.

Jackie
