Internet Marketing Success Stories…

I hope you know how much I love my readers. I try to keep up with what you all are doing… sometimes when I take a peek I get a wonderful surprise.  I see some of you taking some amazing, consistent and persistent action. I thought I’d start doing a little spotlight on success. :)

Today’s featured internet marketing success story is Tina. Tina is part of Lynn Terry’s Elite forum and recently asked a question about her site in the forum. I went to take a look to see if  I could help and couldn’t BELIEVE (well I can believe it but it was a wonderful realization) just how far she’d come and in such a short time.

I went back and took a look at her progress and her milestones.

Here’s Tina’s story:

Sept 27th of 2009

she subscribed to get The Squidoo Christmas Cash Blueprint.

Tina started putting together lenses over at Squidoo based on that blueprint.  She had some that she realized were a little to “spammy” after she read the blueprint and went back in and fixed them up. It didn’t take long after following the Christmas cash plan for her to start making sales.

October 4, 2009

Tina and I had a Squidoo Coaching session for 30 minutes. I looked at some of her lenses with her, made some suggestions and we did some brainstorming around what she could do to make them better. (They were already quite good!). We also talked about linking and the blog she’d started to help these guys move up in the rankings.

On the very same day I received an email from Tina saying she’d made a sale and was excited.

She continued to make sales from her lenses following the strategies for keyword research, writing and linking in that blueprint.

October 6, 2009

At this point Tina had made enough money to invest back into her business. She bought hosting, and I’m pretty sure she at this point she was still focused on the Christmas blog she’d set up for her lenses.

However…

December 6, 2009

Tina picked up one of the keyword lists I created. This is when Tina begins to truly shine. I create the keyword lists, but sometimes I have no idea how people will make them work. The list she picked up was on Ride on Toys. I really thought someone would do lenses on them and maybe a blog, but I had no idea what Tina would turn this list into.

She kept in touch with me while she was building. Asking questions every so often. She decided to create a niche blog using the list. She hooked it up with a cute free wordpress theme and began writing and promoting the site. It looked really cute with her free theme and she was doing quite well.

January 2010

Tina and I do a week of email coaching, she’s got some questions that keep coming up as she’s working, and needed a way to get answers to those questions quickly so it didn’t hold back her progress. We went back and forth in email for the week. I think she got a better handle on the site, and sometimes it’s a boost to just have someone saying “yeah, that’s right… keep on going”, because Tina was already on the right track.

Since our email coaching session Tina and I have stayed in touch. She’s consistently continued to work on her site.  She continues to write posts based on the keyword list she bought from me, and now she’s begun adding her own to the list as well when she finds them.

She’s using the lowest competition keywords first to get some traction in the search engines and give herself some traffic.

Here’s what she says she’s doing for each post as far as backlinking… and it’s working.

Articles:  UAW, EZA, 3step ads, articles base, unique-article-base, more if she can  find the time.

Web 2.o: Squidoo lens, Wetpaint, and a Blogger blog post.

Blog Commenting: She does as much commenting as she can using Commentluv blogs.

High PR Links: She’s using the 5000 Backlinks package as well as Paul and Angela’s monthly backlink packets as often as she can. She’s using her main keyword phrase to build links to the homepage and then her specific keywords for each post.

She’s already starting to see search engine traffic from her efforts. While she knows her main keyword is super competitive she’s seeing traffic from it once in a while and has cracked the top 100 for the keyword.

Traffic:

As far as traffic goes  she’s getting  anywhere from 30 to 120 unique visitors per day. At this point most of her traffic
is coming from articles and Squidoo lenses.  She’s getting a fair amount of search engine traffic although most of it is from Yahoo and Bing. She’s finding Google traffic is coming in but on a smaller scale.

At this point Tina has around 60 posts on her site. She’s created a comfortable posting and linking schedule and is getting some traffic and making some sales.

March, 2010

In March Tina reinvested her earnings in the Premium Lifestyle theme. While her site was really cute using the free theme, it has taken on a whole new life with this new theme. She got some design help from Berries and Cream Designs., and the site looks fantastic.

Tina is now ready to ramp up her traffic and her visibility and become THE ride on toys site on the internet. She’s creating a plan to do some guest posting on related blogs ~ she’s gearing her efforts toward larger more established blogs.

She keeps trying things and then reevaluating to see what works.  When she finds something that works, she keeps doing it. When she finds something isn’t working she stops doing it and invests her time in the things that do work.

Tina has been really consistent with this site, posting regularly, building links regularly and doing what she needs to do to create a really successful site. She’s already seeing results which makes it easier to keep moving forward. Her family sometimes thinks she’s crazy with this little “internet adventure” but if she keeps up the way she’s been going they won’t be laughing at her anymore ~ they’ll be laughing with her… all the way to the bank. :)

Take a look at her Ride on Toys site and see what she’s doing, how she’s doing and then remember that you can do it too! All it takes is a plan and some consistent action!

Tina's story is very inspirational to me. She is a perfect example of what it takes to produce a winning site. Consistency is key, you have to remind yourself every single day that what you are doing now with your blog may not show money results for a couple of months. While we are a society that wants and is used to instant gratification, typically, being successful in Internet marketing is all about delayed gratification. I like to think of my new sites as little snowballs I'm rolling down the hill, as they move down the hill they accumulate more snow and grow bigger and produce more income.

Thanks for the inspirational update on Tina's progress. It just goes to show you what is possible if you just take action and don't lose sight of your goals.

I'm suprised to see that Google is taking so long to deliver traffic...they are usually the first, and Yahoo and Bing often bring up the rear. I hope to see more featured updates like you have with Tina.

Great site tina, its beautiful, very professional looking.
It is indeed an inspiration everyone who wants to succeed online. It just motivates a lot when i read success stories like this. I made a sale and finally got my $10.00 paid to my paypal by squidoo from my squidoo lense Jackie reviewed. Thanks a lot Jackie. Thanks for sharing.
I still am working on my scattered projects.

Great work Tina. congratulation what you you just did is the fruit of your labor.

Wow, it usually takes forever to grow that much. Good work Tina. You're truly an inspiration.

I agree. A lot of people have really succeeded in building a business online. If one must fall, there's no reason not to try to pick yourself up and work on a new strategy. This is an inspiring post especially for the newbies. There are tons of opportunities out there. You just have to decide upon yourself what it is that you really want and enjoy doing and work from there. Great post!

A very helpful guide for people like me who just started internet marketing. The part where you stressed out and pointed different key tactics about internet marketing is an eye opener, i had some basic information about internet marketing and this made me learn more other ways on how to be and start off in this kind business. Thanks alot!

It's always nice to hear inspiring stories like this. Good proof that things go well when you invest time, effort and hard work. Congrats Tina, I visited your site and it's just lovely.

Hi Tiffany! Which picture on the site is yours and I'll fix that right away. And are you comfortable with the picture being on the site?

Awesome story and much congrats to Tina for a great site. Ironically I noticed a picture of my daughter on the site though with no link back to Flickr as is required by the Creative Commons license. That should be fixed if Flickr pictures are being used, otherwise it is copyright infringement.

This post is great and makes one to think in whatever they do. For me is an eye opener and thank you Jackie. Congratulations Tina for the success you have received so far.

Hope one day i too can make something and share my experience to all. Persistence definitely will prevail our journey to success

Tina - truly excellent work so far, I mean it.

I absolutely LOVE the toddler slide show at the top; it's amazing how many people don't realize how something so "simple' can seriously boost a topic in many areas.

Congrats, Tina. I admire your tenacity and range of persistant activity. I've been working solely on my blog site, which I trust will become an authoritative blog site. But I know I haven't been adding posts regularly enough and will really get stuck into fixing that.
I've just started building a list in relation to my blog subject and was please to hear today from Get Response that I have my first respondent for my eBook.
Keep up your good work, and thanks for giving a push into more action.

Awesome success story! I always enjoy reading these in all areas of life.

What was very intriguing to me was the fact that I have taken a somewhat similar path. I started with squidoo lenses in the golf niche back in October of 2009. I did this for 1-2 months but did not get very far. So, I started an Acne blog in December 2009. I have had this blog for exactly 5 months and although I have not made much money, my traffic steadily grew and it has lead me to where I am today.

Where am I today? Well, I created a new blog based on living a Primal lifestyle. I did this less than 2 weeks ago and my life has changed in every way, shape and form over the past 2 weeks and it continues to get better everyday.

While it may not seem you are making much progress during your first 3-6 months online... you better believe you are. Setting up my second blog was INCREDIBLY EASY and guess what? My traffic on my new blog has already surpassed the traffic on the blog I have had for 5 months!!!! And my niche is my lifestyle that I live... I blog about my life! Literally!

NEVER GIVE UP... you will get there eventually. Be open minded and when you see an opportunity, take advantage of it. That's what I did with my new blog and I will never look back.

Keep taking action guys!

Looks like a very good site and your story helps me keep taking action thanks and good luck

Wow what a great story! Two things stand out in the reading
of Tina's success and they are Tina's unique focus and Jackie's
help...

I keep on reading about focus but I still tend to spread
myself out on several projects! i just have to try harder!

I have a Christmas blog on its own domain. I don't work on it all year round ~ I work on it usually from sept on or so ~ it does quite well in the search engines during the Christmas season, but not so much during the rest of the year. There's nothing wrong with having a Christmas site, in fact, I think it's a great asset to have since Christmas is the biggest buying time online. :)

I would probably spend most of my time working on something a little more evergreen, but work the Christmas site when it closer to the season.

Thank you Tina for sharing. I have a question for Tina and Jackie. My Christmas lens has the word Christmas in the domain name. Do I still stick with the site and work the site after Christmas like now? Probably was a mistake to buy a domain name with the word Christmas in it, that was my first site and my first time buying a domain name. I was so excited at the time building it. Also my blog has the word Christmas in it, what do you think? Any comment would be appreciated. Thank you again.
Les

Thanks for the support guys! The one thing that really helped me get here was when Jackie recommended choosing 1 method and sticking with it for 6 months. I had success with my Christmas lenses but I knew I wanted to delve a little deeper (what I really, really wanted was a site that was self-hosted) so I chose to blog for 6 months. I've really enjoyed the last few months and feel like I've learned more than I have in the last year. I still put together a Christmas Squidoo lens here and there and I do a little article marketing with some ebooks that I make a little money with but primarily I just work on this blog.

My goal this weekend is to start my list building and get my opt in box working. I've kind of been avoiding this for some reason but my report is DONE and now I need to move on to the technical stuff!

Whatever you're working on, keep moving forward!

That's very encouraging - thanks for the story Jackie and good for you Tina!

Laura :O)

Wow, good job Tina. Great story. I ned these kind of stories telling me that any one can do it. Your website really looks professional and authoritive. It's beautiful. This article about Tina's success is an inspiration to me. Just what I needed today. It's my day off and I'm working if you know what I mean. Finding a niche is the most difficult thing for me. Keep it up Tina. Your success is a reflection on your teacher - Jackie.

My Christmas Cash Blueprint sites have yet to make a cent, my fault, they were my practice sites I guess. So far I'm making 99 cents with something I just put together this month. Thank you for all you do for us Jackie. I don't know where you find the time and energy.
A big Mahalo to you and to every one who asks questions that I wanted to ask but didn't,
Les

Well, what a very encouraging testimony/story. It has really given me hope and I intend to adopt some of the methods used by Tina. I know that most of all I have to focus, focus, focus and stop hopping from one way of making money to another. I have two lenses that I started and haven't finished. One using your method and another with another person's method - both are really good, but I think for now I've got to stick with one and see it through rather than getting all "hot and bothered" when I can't seem to undersand what I'm doing.

Thank you so much Jackie for sharing.

Wow! WTG Tina - the site is beautiful Keep up the good work!
