Today’s podcast is in answer to a question I get quite frequently.

I’m getting traffic but no one is clicking… what can I do?

I’ll provide 8 tips to increase your click through rate in this podcast. Take a listen, and then pick one or two things you can work on. Try one thing at a time so you can see the effect it has, and then test another thing. Keep is simple, and keep taking action!

Hmmm, I think I may have found the source of the non-indexing issue for my squidoo lenses. I had one lens that I Bookmarked on digg immediately after I published it and I used the exact same title on my Digg entry as I did on my lens. So google indexed the Digg and didn't index my lens because it thought it was duplicate content. I changed the title of my lens yesterday and bang - today it is indexed. Might be a coincidence (you can never quite tell with google) but it sure is interesting!

Hi Jackie,

I just love, love, your blog! When I first started IM, I took all the Guru's advice to "look for high search volume low competition phrases" completely forgetting that the 'traffic' is real people and wondered why my CTR was like 1%. Finding relevant, laser targeted keywords I've discovered is FAR more important than high search volume. (and, incidentally, these super targeted phrases often have next to no competition)

Your methods work but I have to say I no longer use squidoo. I can never get my lenses indexed for love or money. I've tried RSS, ping services, bookmarking, the lot - G don't want nothing to do with my lenses, even though they're 100% unique content in non-saturated markets. Instead now I use Hubpages and Docstoc to make my mini sniper sites. These are typically indexed in under 1 hour. What exactly IS squidoo's problem in this regard?

Do tell me more about this docstoc ~ I'm not familiar. :)

Hi Jackie and everyone,

Docstoc is really cool! It's a document sharing site - what you do is you create a word document, powerpoint document or pdf with your affiliate links in the text/ pictures, then upload it to Docstoc.You use this as an alternative to building your own 1-page minisite (same concept as squidoo). It ranks very well with a little backlinking (at least as good as Squid/hubpages, some claim even better). Click on my link for an example of a brand new Doc I created about a watch.

Only thing is you can't put video in your documents. Docstoc mostly works on those very, very precise keywords where people have basically already decided they want to buy the product. I do not recommend Docstoc if you need to create a relationship with your readers.
