Let’s Talk Product Benefits!

Creating content is the cornerstone of internet marketing. You have to have content for your main site, then you need content to put on the sites to build links, whether it’s in blog posts, or articles you’re writing, content is huge.

So what do you do when you just can’t think of something to write about? How on earth do you write all this content for ONE product??

Never fear ~ there are ways, easy ways you can get this done.

One of the easiest ways is to think about what the product does for you, figure out the benefits of the product. Once you know the benefit you can think of other things that also provide that benefit, and then create a great little article. Here’s how you can outline the article.

paragraph 1. Introduction ~ What is the benefit you’re trying to accomplish?

Paragraph 2. Option 1. Identify 1 way you can accomplish the benefit.

Paragraph 3. Option 2. Identify another way you can accomplish the same benefit.

Paragraph 4. Option 3. (your product area) Identify how your product type creates this benefit.

resource box. Discuss if they choose option 3 (your product area) they might want to try your specific product (and create a keyword anchor text link back to your lens) and why.

Here’s an example of how I did this for the Ironman  inversion table lens using How to manage back pain without drugs as the benefit.

Ok ~ that’s not so hard for an inversion table, or a coffee pot, they have some pretty obvious benefits, but what about other stuff that doesn’t have such obvious benefits??

I thought I’d look through some categories at Amazon and give you some benefit ideas to get your creative, out of the box juices flowing!

TV/Video ~

Benefits Ideas:

Make your fella happy: 1. mow the lawn for him 2. Make him a special dinner 3. Take the toddler out somewhere during the big game/race/sporting event.

more family time: 1. eat together 2.  do projects together 3. create family game night

save money by having entertainment at home: 1. eat at home to save money 2. use coupons for your groceries 3. walk/bike to school/work

Flat screen in particular ~ make sure you toddler can’t tip the tv over on themselves (toddler safety): 1. safety gates at the top of stairs 2. lock up chemicals 3. cover outlets

Camera/Photo ~

create memories: 1. create scrapbook pages for family events 2. Set up special “family holiday days” 3. family game night

Bedding:

Get a good nights sleep: 1. don’t drink coffee late in the day 2. No tv in the bedroom 3. create a sleep time ritual

Vacuums:

manage allergies: 1. change sheets regularly 2. netti pot to clean sinuses 3. elderberry concentrate

Toys:

Improve fine/gross motor skills: think of different activities that also do this.

Help learn to share: think of other ways they can learn to share

use the imagination: think of other things that help them be imaginative

Crafts:

create family heirlooms: how else can heirlooms be created?

make some extra money: other ways to make extra money?

Fitness Equipment

Lose weight: other things they can do to lose weight

Feel better about yourself: other things that make people feel good about themselves

save money working out at home: other ways to save money in the household budget

Jewelry

show her you love her: other things you can do to show women you love them.

create a special memory: other ways to create special memories

I hope this gives you some ideas about how you can think outside of the box when it comes to benefits your products have. The benefits go way past the features your specific product has ~ benefits are not about the number of pixels, or what exactly your product does ~ it can be about how it makes a person feel, the effect it has on other parts of their lives.

So before you just go right for the basic product review, think about what else your product might do, and try writing an article about that!

Truly helpful to me, as I am maintaining a few sites and sometimes I could really ran out of words to say when I do blogging. But this is really helpful. Thanks a lot! Looking forward for another tips from you!

I love this advice because it is writing for your audience. You have been teaching me this over the last few days and it is VALUABLE advice!

Hi

A nicely written article covering all the main points. Im certainly going to take it on baord.

Article writing is certainly something that i dont enjoy. This structure has helped me to visualise what i need do.

regards

I’ve been using this Method for the site of my client. I think he is satisfied with the results when it comes to page ranking and traffic of his site.

The benefits of the product are the most important think when you try to sell something.
Great list and very inspiring.

I've loved the vacuum example!

Thank you so much! God bless you.

For squidoo you can use it for both, but mostly for getting the link. You want your lens to rank for the keyword, and you don't want to have an ezine article outrank your lens.

here's why: say your lens is #2 and someone clicks on it. there's only one more click to get them to the product affiliate page.

If your EZA article is #2 and they click on it, they have to read the whole article. Be inspired to click through on your link in the resouce box. Then they go to your lens, which they then have to read and feel inspired to click a link to the affiliate page.

It's more efficient to have your lens rank better.

Hi Jackie,

Thanks for the info. Can you tell me then, is the idea of writing an article for Ezine just to have your resource box with your keywords in it so Google can find it, or to have the readers click on your link to your lens?

I chose tools (hubby's a renovator - going on 30 years), and I know there's good search for what I chose, but this article indicates that the exact names of the tools should not be mentioned except in the resource box.

Thanks again for all the info.

awesome. :) glad it helped.

Thank you Jackie. I feel like this is my Eureka moment :)

Thank you Jackie for an awesome method on product benefits.
Now i know what i should be write in my lens.
Great post and you share the best

Jackie I came back to this post again because I still forget it. What I have decided to do now is make sure I make lenses on 3 related product first and then do the link building with the gift idea. I'm sure people need gifts all year round. I'm very bad with these articles, very slow as well, so saving time this way is a very good idea.

So, not even the comments are wasted on me, I read it all.

Thanks.

Thank you!

I will get going then!

absolutely not!! Get going!! Even if you don't end up cashing in for christmas these products are searched year round ~ you can still make money throughout the year, this isn't JUST a christmas activity. ;)

I just ran across this post today, and I would like to know if you think it is too late for me to start your Christmas Cash Blueprint? Did the ship already sail?

Hi, Jackie,
I wanted to put in my two cents about the benefit thing. I too have a watch as a Christmas Cash Lens, but gosh, what's exciting about a watch?

Got no idea how I came up with this but I wrote an article about making a good first impression on a woman (it's man's watch) with nice jewelry, among other things. I actually felt very creative when I was done.

Again as everyone keeps saying, we appreciate all your great posts to help us along the way. Hopefully we'll all get some sales this Christmas. :)

Jackie,
Awesome stuff. You've got my mind moving a million miles an hour with all your posts. (This is a good thing because before I always seemed to keep getting stuck.)

The blinders have been lifted and I actually feel like it's all starting to make sense now and I'm finally starting to "get it".

For the hundreth...or more time. Thanks.

@Sergey I do "great gift idea" articles all the time. Gift ideas for the cook ~ for kitchen stuff, gift ideas for the hard to buy for ~ random stuff people might like, gift ideas for the outdoor lover ~ stuff you use outside. gift ideas for the fitness fanatic ~ fitness equipment etc. gifts for your mother in law ~ stuff women would like. It could go on forever. :)

I find these very easy to write. I use them at 1 way links quite often because you can have 3 links within the content there, so I just link to a different lens for each of the 3 gift ideas. :)

@Dawn I totally get that, and blog posts that help move you forward are not time wasting activities ;) glad you keep stopping by and glad I could help out.

I try not to get seduced in to reading too many blog posts but you've got me clicking through every day, Jackie. You really are putting out some very helpful information.

Another question. Is 'a great gift for Cristmas/Chanukka/New Year' a benefit on its own? Or there always has to be something... 'pragmatic', which actually makes something a 'great gift for...'? Hope I asked it clear...

So it's just that simple? ;) Great! In fact, there are other benefits, which are based on various advanced features. Such as waterproof' watches, which don't have to be removed from your arms when you wash your kids!

The first thing that comes to mind is how to be on time. :) 1. leave the house early. 2. set your clock ahead if you are always late. 3. get a good watch. :)

Thank you Jackie, those are great examples! But what do you think about watches, for instance?

Very creative, Jackie. Just as I got to the inversion table example, I got to thinking that would work for something like that, but saw a challenge in how to apply that same concept to something like a pendant.

Then I read on and saw your "out-of-the-box" thinking. Nice job! :)

Hi Jackie,

Great post! Thank you! This is exactly where I was stuck and this post has now got those brain juices moving a bit..lol

Ok.. maybe you're getting a little tired of my effusive 'thank yous', but I was trying to figure out how in the heck to write Ezine articles for a couple of items I'm doing lenses for. I'm not the most imaginative person! You just told me exactly what to do. So... thanks again!
