Gone are the days where you can just offer updates and people willingly fill in their email address. (Although this DOES happen more easily when you have KILLER content) For the mere mortals among us we need to offer a gift, an ethical bribe, something of value to our readers in exchange for their email address.
It can seem overwhelming when you start to think about it. But it’s really quite simple, and today I’m going to share with you a fantastic way to create a valuable piece of content your reader’s are going to eat up.
1. Identify a problem your readers are facing.
What hurdles do they face? What troubles them? What questions do they have? What keeps them from being successful in this area?
Those are the questions you’re going to ask yourself… THEN you’re going to find a reputable PLR dealer, and you’re going to see what they have available to help you answer these questions, jump over the hurdles etc.
There’s no reason you have to struggle and spend a million hours trying to perfect an opt in gift ~ this is especially true if you struggle with writing. Stop putting it off, and get some help ~ some PLR help.
What is PLR.
PLR stands for Private Label Rights. This is where someone writes, whether it’s articles, reports, entire ebooks, and then sells them to you for a price.
Now, the seller doesn’t just sell them to YOU, but to others as well. Some sellers only sell to a limited number of people, and others will just sell as many copies as they possibly can.
The key to making this strategy work is finding a reputable seller ~ a GREAT writer ~ it’s like having your own ghost writer on staff.
When you go to your PLR seller with your problems/questions in hand you can look for a couple different things…
1. Articles
2. reports
3. ebooks
All of these make excellent opt in gifts ~ once you make them your own.
If you find articles you might put them all together as an “FAQ” type package… answering the most often asked questions in your niche. You could also put them together to create a short report to give to your readers.
Reports and ebooks speak for themselves. A well written report or ebook can go a LONG way to creating a connection between you and your reader ~ as well as giving you quite a bit of authority on the topic.
Once you’ve decided on some content, and you’ve purchased it you’re ready to make it your own. That’s what we’re going to be talking about next week! How to make this PLR content your own, so stay tuned.
This week’s action steps:
1. Identify problems, concerns, hurdles, questions you’re target market has.
2. Find some PLR content to solve those problems.
Here are some fantastic PLR sellers where I get my PLR.
Tiffany Dow ~ a variety of topics, both niche, and IM
Yummy PLR ~ for food related topics
Sassy PLR ~ a variety of topics
Easy PLR ~ nice reports, and ebooks on a variety of topics
PLR Mall ~ a fairly new site ~ but an AWESOME writer!
If you get this piece done this week, next week you’ll be ready to start making it your own, and then you’re ready to upload and start taking names!

In addition, the more you interact with the blogging community, the more connections you can make to write for your blog. If we interact with others that blog in the same niche then we will have more of an opportunity to write for each other. Thanks for sharing again!
I totally agree with having a PLR. You need someone that can write great articles and reports and such inside of your niche. If you can get one that is devoted to just you you will usually get better quality work.
interesting post with useful links for finding PLR material, very informative….thanks
As a fellow marketer, I’ve never been comfortable with the PLR stuff that I’ve found out there. Maybe I’m looking in the wrong places – but everything I’ve seen has been poorly done and I’ve had to do so much work to clean it up before passing it along to my audience. Do you have this issue with the sources that you recommend above?
I’ve definitely had that issue Eric ~ and it generally comes from the sites where you can get plr for “nothing”… the sites I’ve mentioned are all people I personally know ~ and are excellent writers. A lot of people have realized what a great business model PLR can be, so more excellent writers have ventured into the market… these resources I’ve found I can use it right out of the box. (not that that’s recommended… but I sure could.)
I always stop by here in your site. And I learn a lot of knowledge from it. Thanks for sharing your great thoughts with us.
Hi Jackie…am hooked to ur site like a crack addict…I really love the way you write….Please keep on doing what you’re doing cos all always stop by to spend an hour or two.
I have not yet put my site but am planning to real soon (LOL) . I believe that all the materials one needs to be a successful internet marketer is here on your blog.
I really appreciate you. take care!
Did you see a big jump in opt-ins when you started offering a free gift? And what sort of length are the reports / ebooks that you offer? Thanks!
I’ve pretty much always offered some sort of free gift so I can’t give you the stats on that… and the length really depends on what you’re offering. It really only needs to be as long as it needs to be. I’ve had opt in gifts that were 5 or 6 pages, and some that were 60. It just all depends.
Almost all content in most of my blogs are PLR articles. They are the best option for those who do not have the time to write. Constant Content is also a great place to find them.
I used to run a press release tips website. One of the offers that worked really well for us to get email subscribers was that we created a reference to some of the more popular how-top articles on our site. We distilled those articles down to key points, including a few original press release examples and gave some new points. It went like crazy and we build a huge list. And we created a handy guide for our readers.
Thanks for the good tips provided here! I agree to identify first the needs of visitor to keep
them coming back to visit your site.
I just finished creating my optin gift but didn’t think about PLR – sounds like something to try
Thanks for writing about this Jackie. I’m sure it will save time.
I love reading your posts, Jackie. Always so informative. Thank you.
