I was over at a new blog I’m following yesterday and when I went to make a comment I realized commentluv had been pulling in the same blog post for a really long time. I started clicking stuff and realized you could actually sign your blog up at commentluv and then it would show 10 posts for you to choose from.

That’s pretty cool. It was not easy to figure out how to do it, some links on the site are broken, but I finally did it.

Here’s how it went:

1. Go to the site

2. Click the button that says “get it here”

It will take you to a sign up page. It will offer to make you a blog ~ I didn’t bother ~ they had some pretty distinct TOS about creating blogs for linking and affiliate products lol ~ I just clicked “just give me a username”.

3. Create your username and password

That will create an account here. You’ll receive a confirmation email you have to click the link in.

4. Add your blog url.

Go to the members tab and then you’ll see “register your url”

5. A box will open up that looks like you can fill in ~ but you can’t. You have to click the little edit button right at the bottom of  the box, then it will open a space to fill in your url and the rest of the information about your site ie. keywords, description etc.

That’s it, now you’ll find when you’re commenting on a site with commentluv you can click the little icon and 10 posts will appear, you can choose which one you would like to appear in your comment.

Finding commentluv blogs

I know I sent you to that great tutorial on how to find commentluv and keywordluv blogs but this is pretty cool. There is actually a search feature on this site!!

You can search all the posts on commentluv blogs for the last 7 days by keyword!

Yep! Just put your keyword in the seach box and it will bring up related blog posts and they will all be using commentluv!!

I know I don’t need to tell you ~ well who knows ~ maybe I do. Write useful, content rich comments please. Your comment will NOT get published if it just says “great post”. Really. Truly. I know what I’m talking about.

Just for giggles ~ here’s some of the recent comments that have not been published on my blog.

Great post!  You stirred an ongoing dialog with your helpful insights on commenting on blogs, and noted the benefit of adding backlinks in comments, and you also shared the concept of the importance of building relationships with your comments.  Good stuff!!  Bringing a better awareness of the benefits of social media.
I also believe quality comments are more important than quantity.
Here at <a href=”removed by Jackie”</a>, that is one of the concepts we share with local, small business owners while encouraging them to start a blog about helpful, interesting topics on their website.

I do not need a recap of my post ~ really I don’t. If you think quality comments are important then why not write them? This person thought he was writing a quality comment but he’s actually added nothing but his own link to the conversation (and there’s a place for that, and it’s not in the comment itself)

These type of comments used to make me feel good ~ back before there was actual learning and conversation going on here lol ~ then I realized they are all for one post (that I wrote a long time ago) that ranks well in the SERPS.

Of course the link she was promoting lead directly to a site about making money with ebooks and it was posted on one of the “to do” list posts ~ so it was a completely irrelevant comment.

are these just for moms or would they also be useful to a dad (i.e me)

Another inane comment on that popular well ranked post ~ the url promoted get your ex back. Can you not read and look to see if there are resources you can use on this list?

I don’t mean to seem mean ~ but for the longest time I really thought these people were asking sincere questions, and really liked the site, my writing, etc.

It took me a while to realize that the really bad comments generally come from a few posts ~ and they end up being very similar comments, if not the exact same comment across the board.

These spam kind of comments ~ even if they seem sincere are not something I want on my blog. I just want you to be aware, not only of the type of comments you’re making, but the type of comments you’re allowing to pass through on you blog.

In the beginning, it may seem that any comment is a good comment, but that can’t be further from the truth. Here’s the truth as I’ve seen it happen on quite a few of my blogs.

If you let in 1 or 2 spam comments ~ even it if doesn’t really look like spam, you will be inundated with spam like comments. I don’t know if there’s a community somewhere where people go and say ~ “hey this sucker will let you post crap on their blog ~ go there now!!” But that’s what it has seemed like with a couple sites where I made that mistake.

Remember, make sure you’re adding to the conversation, and if the comments coming to your blog aren’t doing that ~ then don’t post them.

Ok, wow ~ this post went in a totally different direction than I anticipated. I was just excited to share a couple new ways to find some cool blogs ~ with the perk of commentluv attached.  Remember, if you find a cool blog in your niche from the commentluv search thing add it to your RSS so you can visit regularly and become part of the community.
