Squidoo Lens Traffic ~ Getting Google Love

As most of you know, I love squidoo, and I can usually drive traffic to my squidoo lens without any problems. This was not the case with my cloth diaper lens. For some reason I just was not getting any google love. All the other search engines were sending me visitors, but I just couldn’t get google’s attention.

I really wanted some google traffic so as you might know I recently went out on a limb and asked PotPieGirl to do a Squidoo lens SEO Review for my cloth diaper lens. She is one of the best squidoo people around and is really friendly and nice. I thought if anyone could help my cloth diaper lens find some google love it would be her.

She graciously accepted to do the seo review and in fact, made it a three part series on her blog. (which I highly recommend for anyone wanting to learn more about SEO or Squidoo)

I wanted to come back and do a quick follow up today to let you know how things have panned out for my cloth diaper lens.

I followed PotPieGirl’s instructions, which were really quite simple, adding a few keywords to the titles and making sure the links to other sites had keyword anchor text. You can read the whole seo review and her recommendations at Potpiegirl.com

I am extremely excited to say that within 10 days I began to get google traffic. It started off as 1 visit, then 6 and it just keeps rising. I’m currently on google’s page 2 for free cloth diaper patterns, and still moving up the ranks for cheap cloth diapers.

I am really amazed how easy it was, to go from NO where on google, even when you put my lens URL in it was not coming up, to page 2 in less than 10 days. You might not think it, but the cloth diaper market is a very competitive market and there are a lot of very well established stores with tons and tons of backlinks that I will probably never beat out for page one placement. But this does show me that no matter what if you do a few things to tweak your lens you can get some google love, and even though I am still buried on page 5 and 6 for some of my keywords, I am still getting traffic.
