Squidoo Marketing ~ A Couple New Squidoo Tools

Oct 27

As most of you know I love using Squidoo marketing. Building a Squidoo lens is quick and easy and there are always people coming out with new Squidoo tools to make it even easier.

Over the past week I have come across a couple new Squidoo tools that are helpful for being able to properly SEO (search engine optimize) your lenses and the other is great for making money from ebay on Squidoo ~ and get ALL the profits, instead of sharing with Squidoo.

Are your Squidoo lenses healthy and properly search engine optimized?

It may sound like a strange question to ask if your lenses are healthy, but isn’t that what a well optimized website or lens is ~ a healthy one? This first tool is right on Squidoo itself. In fact, it’s a new link on your dashboard.

When you hover over your lens title on the dashboard you will see a bunch of different links, including stats, delete and others. Now the last link on the right hand side is “health”. If you click on that link you will be taken to a list of questions where Squidoo lets you know if your lens is “healthy” in that area.  It also gives you some ideas if your lens isn’t healthy in that area how you can fix it up a little bit.

The areas it rates your lenses health on are all basic SEO things, so if you are having a hard time getting your lens ranked in the search engines or get traffic to them, you might want to have a look at the “health” link on your dashboard and see if you are optimizing your lens to the most of its ability.

Free Ebay Widget for Squidoo

The second new Squidoo tool I have Captain Squid to thank for. I saw it on his blog last night, so thanks for the heads up Capt.  What this widget does is use the Ebay to Go feature and allows you to use YOUR OWN EPN (ebay partners network) ID so you get 100% of the commission instead of sharing it with Squidoo.

This ebay for Squidoo widget is very easy. All you have to do is click “get and share” at the bottom of the diplayed widget.  Scroll down and find the Squidoo button (it’s a little squid) and click on it.  Up will pop an “edit settings” box where you fill in your EPN campaign ID and  your keyword (for the products you want to display). Just click the next button ~ it will ask you for your email address in case you want to update the widget later ~ and then it will give you two options.

This part is pretty cool. If you are already logged in to your Squidoo account you can hit the open Squidoo button and it will open up a page at Squidoo. It will ask you which lens you want to put the widget on aand then it a Squidoo module with your widget already in it will open on the chosen lens.  It will ask you for a title, subtitle etc for your module, fill those in with keyword rich phrases and then hit save. Don’t forget to publish your lens after you save for the new widget to show up.

Here’s one I put up on a lens last night.  (click the picture to make it bigger) When you hover over any one of the boxes it makes it larger. If you click on the box it will show you everything about that particular auction. This is a pretty fun and handy new widget for Squidoo.  It’s particularly exciting in this Christmas season, for products that are sold out in stores and yet can still be found on ebay ~ hint hint. ;)

Enjoy these two new Squidoo tools, let me know if they help you!
