I think I’ve mentioned before I really need to work on creating backlinks. For me, it is the most difficult part of the process. I just want to keep creating new lenses! But, the way you’ve laid out all the steps, Jackie, really makes sense. I have a few fashion-themed lenses and you’ve inspired me to start a fashion-themed blog that I can link to & from. Thanks again for the inspiration!

that’s what I did. Sometimes you just have to play around with the search term until you get what you’re looking for. I just did that search and there were 5 or so on the front page.

Hi Jackie, I would have liked to see a screen shot of how to find blogs that you can post content to. Can you just google “free ad blogs” ? (without the quotes)

Great backlinking explanation, free blogs are a great way for sure to add to the variety of backlinks pointing back to your site.

The fact Google spiders have stopped by doesn’t necessarily mean it’s indexed. You need to go to Google and type in the search box site:http://yoururl.com

If your indexed it will show your site in the results ~ if not it will say it couldn’t find anything. If it doesn’t show up with the http:// try adding the www sometimes it will show up one way and not the other.

If you’re not indexed try using the blog address in the url field of a comment here, that should help.

Hi Jackie,

Do you know how to check to see if a blog or website is indexed by google?

I was looking at one of the linking products and it said they only accept blogs that are indexed already.

I have checked my host and google has crawled it does that mean it is indexed?

I’ve been studying your Backlinking 101 lessons and also working on creating backlinks. Very helpful and easy to do–thanks Jackie! With every lesson, I get a new idea about how to use backlinks to promote my website (and I’m working on building my own lens). For example, with the free ad blogs, I’m going to promote my Extreme College Survival Kit . Since it’s summer and many high school grads will soon be going away to college for the first time, there will also be many worried parents out there. The Extreme College Survival Kit goes a long way to making parents feel better about their kids moving away from home. Thanks for the great stuff, Jackie!
