I’m camera-shy too. I love taking photos but don’t like so much being in front of the camera. But coincidentally, earlier today before reading this article I happened to make my first video where I’m actually in the video – rather than a screenshot video. Not sure if I’ll have the courage to put it up on the net after I watch it but I’m psyching myself up for doing more video now. Thanks for the great tips, I’ll definitely try them out.

You don’t have to do a video of yourself. I don’t think I’m in any of my videos. You can show a process in person or online ~ you can do a screenshot you show and you talk in the background. You can do a slideshow type video. You can use jing and do a screen capture ~ tons of ideas without ever showing your mug on camera.

Thanks for the info – like Julie I am not very keen on getting my face on the internet – but it does seem to be a good way of getting lots of targetted traffic, so I suppose I should give it a try too!!

I’ve never done a video before so I’m a little gunshy when it comes to actually putting my mug on the internet. I think you have a good point that videos are a good way to drive traffic so I’ll have to give this one a try. I need to really think about how this relates to my topic so I can be effective in marketing my site.

Thanks for pointing that out. I think myspace is one of those spaces where marketers have left (for facebook) but the real people have stayed around. Good idea ~ time to take out those myspace accounts and dust them off.

Add links on your Myspace to your videos and your page on YouTube. I believe it is a great way for people to find you on Myspace, the entire world can see it and you are more expected to get discovered on Myspace than on YouTube.

Great Information, Jackie. I just did my first instructional video on youtube more practice than anything else)and will use these techniques to promote itand see what happens. It will also give me a sort of checklist to go by when I do my next one.

I do have one question though. When you do these videos, how can you track what traffic is coming from them and from where? Do you have a set way to do this?
