Nice idea, I wish I’d taken it up but I went with a different hosting company, I’m not sure if WordPress is for me. I haven’t even got round to my blogging yet (I’m a bit of a procrastinator) but when I do I’ll be back!

  2. Pete from GettingBackTogether says:

Oh Jackie you are so in my head:-). I have a blog up and was just thinking about whether or not to move my material over to the new website http://workingathomeaffiliate.com/…which is really ugly:-). Normally I would copy and paste but then I got to thinking what if Google thought I was plagiarizing the material which is my own…and not ping or spider the site then what?. I would not move everything onto one web page since it was a blog there are no indexes to place certain articles in. Trying to stay focus… I have a copy of the WordPress setup from a Caroline Middlebrook that I downloaded b4 I found you. And I am trying not to confuse the two instructions…..Boy I did accomplish a lot tonight in a short space of time. Thanks so much for the guidance.

Just keep working your way through that series of posts on the articles page. It will take you through all the steps. Are you creating a new blog? or moving your blogger blog to wordpress?

I’m not sure how to transfer from blogger, but I’m pretty sure someone around here has recently done that, maybe they can help you.

  6. Theresa says:

Talk about leap of faith…Even b4 I received your response Jackie I have already purchased my domain and my hosting. Never thought to think about what would happen if I could not get this setup correctly. I do love that “One Penny” deal with Gator for the first month. Thanks for the email and the guidance in direction. That was my next question..now that I have these two things how am I suppose to get them joined together…This is like going to College all over again. Thanks!!!

  7. Theresa says:

Ok I am so behind everyone else. Can someone forward or provide the info on where to get started on the WP setup I checked my email and I might have deleted the beginning in this whole process. Also would appreciate knowing if there is a hosting I think That’s what it’s called company that you can pay on installments. BlueHost wants all the money up front for the year. Which I must confess I can not afford right now. Which hosting comapny is suggested to upload WP on. Loading will probably be a whole other issue but do need to get started while my fear is low right now. this is really scary but exciting.

      Hey Theresa,

You’re never behind, you’re right where you’re supposed to be. :) The challenge is ongoing so whenever people come in, they come it.

Good for you to get started!! If you go to the articles page of this site and scroll down to the “build a niche blog” section you’ll get all the tutorials to answer the questions you’ve asked here. It may say niche blog ~ but the process of setting up wordpress is the same no matter what you’re going to do with the site in the end so that’s just what you need. :)

  8. Garry says:

I’m in. PetFoodDude.com is ready to learn!

  9. Lonnie from CrappieFishing101.com says:

I’ve got my first wordpress up & running with your help from these postings. Still need some tweaking though that’s for sure.

    • Jackie says:

      Hey Lonnie,

The site content looks good. Are you going to be able to talk forever about crappie fishing? Just wondering. My Dad was a huge crappie fisherman. I went Crappie fishing with him my very first time :)

Also you might want to tone down the ads. They are a little overwhelming and distract from the content a bit. ;)

      • Jackie says:

OH also ~ the title on your blog is FUNKY. You should probably make it a different color and easier to read. :)

I’ve done those 2 things many times before, but in most of cases I’ve not progressed any further.

  18. Jackie says:

    Hey Alan,

The last sentence of this post says I will be doing posts this week to help you make decisions on these challenges. :) Don’t it’s a week long challenge, we’ll get you going!

  19. Alan from Tulsa Homes For Sale says:

Jackie, both the steps mentioned by you are too hard for me to do on my own. Each time I buy a domain or choose a design, thousands of thoughts keep popping up in my mind. Choosing the design is the toughest of all. I finalize on a particular design and when I see another one I shift to it. likewise I keep jumping from one to another without settling. Do you have any thoughts to share on how effectively settling down with what we need? and btw wish you get some sleep and feel more active tomorrow
