Weekly Blogging Challenge #2

Hey where did you all go? Part of a challenge is accountability! I’m the only one listed on the linky list on the challenge post for last week. This gets my over active imagination working and here’s some reasons I came up with why I’m all alone over there.

1. You’re stuck and didn’t finish the challenge

2. You got lazy and didn’t do any work this week.

3. You were so afraid of screwing it up you didn’t do anything

4. You were so “busy” you didn’t get it done

5. You did it and just FORGOT to stay accountable and get a link to your new site at the challenge post.

Hmmm…. please, tell me which of the 5 it was. Because some of them I can help with.

If the answer is #5 the post is still open, feel free to go back and add your link to the list. :)

Weekly Blogging Challenge #2

This week’s challenge activities:

1. Upload, activate and configure your plugins.

2. Get pages written and published.

When you’ve finished those two things (or if you already have them done) fill your name/blog address in below!

My guess is you have an adsense plugin activated with no code in it. The spaces you are getting is where the ad should be. :) Go in your plugins are and make sure any adsense plugins are deactivated.

Hi Jackie and Group,

I've spent the whole weekend trying to follow the blog setup by order from the website and doing what I thought was great until I looked at my site as a surfer not as an Administrator. For some reason I have huge spaces between my lines and yet when I look at it from the Admin side on both HTML and compose I do not see why the spaces are there. Even went so far as to try to view the html page in cpanel not like I know what I'm looking for but this is becoming frustrating and I know that the frustration is stemming from it not looking as I wish and that I am totally new at this ` trying to follow instructions as I go which takes a while to actually complete a project. Any suggestions as to why there are gaps between my lines?

Reaching out to anyone that has more patience and knowledge than me:-)

I just started a new blog and I've completed the assignment listed above. :-)

Jackie - you're the best!

Hi Amber ~ I'm assuming it's the site in the comment luv? If so, that site looks great. I was going to leave you a comment, but the comments are closed. :( Commenting is a big way to build community around your site so you might want to consider opening the comments on your site. You also might want to upload the commentluv plugin to give people more incentive to get active at your site. :) Looking good!

I was not certain if I am going to take part in the challenge seeing that my site is already a few months old, but I actually took time to install many of the plugings you mentioned tonight and that I wanted to do for quite some time now. I did a post yesterday and so I think I made the target for the challenge this week. Added my link and now I will wait for your new post to learn some more awesome things.
You make learning so much fun, Jackie

I believe I've met the targets for Challenge 2.

My site has only been up since February. So, I'm another that thought I was too far along to join. I'm still a newbie, though! I'm sure there are things I can learn from the challenge.

My links are up.

I'm afraid I am behind...will catch up soon

Ok Debbie, Thanks for the heads up!

I've deleted the squidoo lens. This is a BLOG challenge, no lenses allowed.

You also have to COMPLETE the challenge before you add your link. If you do not have your privacy, disclaimer, etc etc pages done yet, do not link. :)

Now, Debbie as for your question ~ this week is a general blog challenge so I think the homepage will be fine. There will be weeks where it will be for a specific post on your blog ~ but this week it's up to you, either will do. :)

Thanks! So to join the list do I put the link to my blog or to a specific post? I tried to figure it out by clicking the 3 links you already have but one appears to be a theme description and one is a Squidoo lens so I'm confused!

Have no idea how to get the names of the featured sections it those tabs.
Any clues, I'm coming in to your sequence late.
Thanks,
Lakshmi.

Thats right Jackie, I got lazy and did no work over the week :D but I read one of your previous post on how to choose wordpress theme for your website which had helped me in identifying what I wanted for my personal blog. I am lagging far behind with the weekly challenges #1 and #2, but I am pretty sure that I'll catch up :) what do you think :D

Melvin, I'm glad you found us. If you stay focused you can knock out challenges 1 and 2 in just a couple hours. I think you can catch up!!

I'm going to be coming along slowly - I was waiting for my payouts into my Paypal acct for me to get started. But I'll be starting it up this week, and seeing about moving everything from my 'blogger' blog over there.

Hi Jackie, thanks for all your help.
I've written a kind of intro page but publishing means going public?
I haven't changed my security settings to allow search engines as it still looks like a work in progress.
I'm working on your SEO tutorial & keywords.
I'm wondering if mine is a niche site or a authority site.
I'd like to cover all aspects of fitness & natural health to give me more scope but will that be too general to get targeted traffic.
If I go wide there would be really a ton of keyword to put in that admin section on keywords.
Thanks again Lakshmi.

The post looks good. But I see what you're saying about work in progress on the homepage. As soon as you get the featured sections figured out go ahead and change the settings ~ there's no reason to wait. It will always be a work in progress. :)

I added mine - though I haven't purchased a domain for it - my husband and I are setting up a whole website on Education and I may move my blog there - or may keep it separate - will move it once we have decided, but in the mean time I just using the free Wordpress.

Just remember you won't be able to monetize your blog at wordpress.com. :(

No way ~ feel free to add your link and be part of the challenge! If you've got the activities for the week done already ~ then go ahead and add your name. We're all inclusive here :)

I started my blog back when you were doing the Wordpress series in December so I thought my blog was too "old" to take part in this challenge. But I'm still following and learning from you every day so don't feel like you're all alone!
