Thank You for All the Info, I also had trouble with SQUIDOO yes some of my sites did lean toward advertising but I did have some that was original content but all of my lenses was locked. I did save the work and can use it in other places. I guess when the big dogs clamped down some innocent people get hurt. Something new will always come along and will not be so much of a pain in the grASS.

Good luck and God bless

Hi Jackie,

Oops, made a slight error in interpretation.

Squidoo is a great resource and you're absolutely right, they should not be placed that dreaded list alongside wordpress.com, how true.

However, having said that, I've experienced a few occasions personally and have read on other blogs that sometimes their site experience down times or that one can't access their log ons and dashboard at times.

I know there aren't any fee based hosting companies or free web site builders with 100% up time but knowing this as online businesses, we should definitely make sure to spread our MONEY links around on web properties that we own and not have them all Tied up heavily into any particular free platform like Squidoo.com, Blogger.com, Wordpress.com or even Ezinearticles.com, etc.

I for one really appreciate Squidoo and thankful their service exist.

Cheers!

Hey Sunshine,
I've been having the same issue with Squidoo today too.

But I can't say I'd put them on the list of "never" use. I love squidoo, and yes they have some glitches once in a while, but they are very marketer friendly, and google loves em.

I totally agree that you can't put all your eggs in one basket though, and hosting your own is probably the best way to go since you have total control.

But it is nice to throw some free stuff (squidoo) up to see if your market is worth doing a niche site/blog for. :)

Thanks for stopping by, it's always great to see you!

The same thing happened to me. I had a wordpress.com blog canceled for supposed violation of terms of service. So obviously I will never use them again.

Man, what a bummer to hear that Jackie.
I did buy a domain from Godaddy using the code a few days ago. It worked like a charm.

On a side note though, I also believe you should add Squidoo to that list as well.

What I mean is, sometimes even Squidoo experience hiccups during high traffic times of the year.

Like today for instance, their site has been acting strange and timing out during my log in all day today.

What I've come to realize that it's not good to rely on any ONE source no matter how good it is when it comes to building and maintaining an online business presence.

Thanks Harmony

The thing is you could probably even get a generic url and then build your link blogs on subdomains of the original. So it would cost you even less. You can use the one time special code - 199TEST - and get your domain for 2.99 at GoDaddy.

It's very doable. I know it seems overwhelming and intimidating when you start, but it's the best way really.
