WP Robot Review

A month or so ago I was looking around for a theme for niche sites. I happened to land on a page from theplrstore.com ~ which happens to be a place I buy quite a bit of PLR when I’m working on something that calls for it. What I landed on wasn’t a written report though… it was a full and complete website. For sale. For $27. Doh.

I looked at the website ~ and realized there were quite a few more for sale as well. These sites were gorgeous. They were filled with content. Filled with products for sale. Looked fantastic. I never in my whole life would have guessed they were sold from a plr site. Never.

I started looking at the way they were made, the things they were selling and I was sold. No I didn’t buy one of the PLR store sites ~ I figured out how to make my own. I found a plugin that would create sites exactly like the ones I had found ~ automatically.

Let me just say right here, right now ~ I have never been a fan of “autoblogging”. In fact, someone talked to me about this plugin a few months ago and I completely blew it off as spam crap. Boy was I wrong. I never would have given this plugin a second look if I hadn’t seen the sites at the plr store.  If I hadn’t seen what “real” sites could be created I never would have thought it was possible. Honest to God.

These days I try not to buy stuff to jump into something new. I have some sites ~ a christmas site, some deal blogs that I use to link back to my “money sites”. You all know that. These poor sites sit around and do a bunch of nothing a lot of the time. There are times when I’m working on something else and just don’t use them much. However… I got to thinking ~ last year my Christmas site did quite well. Not from product related keywords ~ but holiday and gift related keywords. Once people clicked through on those keywords they looked at what I had published on the blog and bought. This was with just a few items on the site that I had added to link back to my product lenses on Squidoo.

It dawned on me… what if I had more products to choose from and a great selection of gifts for people to choose from when they come looking for gifts. Oh yeah.

That’s where my thought process started. Then I started thinking about some of my old, defunct adsense sites I had built a few years back. The keywords all related to products ~ and at some point I’d thought of building out the sites and had done plenty of keyword research. I had a whole list of great targeted keywords and just hadn’t taken the time to write, publish and promote.

What if WP Robot could do it for me? Hmm…

I started making a list of all the product related domain names and sites I had. It came out to somewhere in the 20s. What if I could get these sites up and running. What if they each just started making $10 a day?  25 X 10 = $250.  250 dollars a day from stuff I had just sitting around collecting dust right now.

I thought it was definitely worth the investment since most of the process would be hands off and taken care of by the plugin.

When it comes to buying WP Robot they’ve got it set up really nicely. You have a bunch of options and can create a plugin that fits your needs.

It starts with the core module ~ that’s the WP Robot part. It has multiple levels depending on what you want to do. You can get a basic  free version which allows you to create 3 campaigns on 20 sites ~ you can get the advanced version which allows you to use it on 40 sites, or you can get the Elite version which allows unlimited campaigns on unlimited sites.

I picked up the elite robot module. I didn’t really understand exactly how the campaigns and all that worked when I picked it up. Now that I have a better understanding I realize I could have probably gone with the advanced level instead of the elite ~ but hey.

Once you’ve made your core choice you can add more modules. These modules are where your content is going to come from. There are 15 modules to choose from that will help you create content from places like Amazon, article directories, clickbank, shopzilla to flickr and more.

Before you go adding modules I suggest you get a clear picture in your head of what you want your site to look like and/or do for you.

I wanted a site that would feature products sold at amazon and I also wanted some articles for content thrown in. It thought it would also be cool to have some price comparison from shopzilla (which is a free module btw) as well. I also thought it would be great to have some video on my pages as well.

With this in mind I looked at the modules it would take me to create this kind of site and I picked up the Amazon module and the article module. I wanted, but didn’t get the youtube module because I wanted to see if I the investment was going to pay off before I spent too much money. I can always upgrade the youtube module later.

When you create your own package and bundle different modules together you save money. It can be a pretty good savings when you pick up a couple modules at the same time.

Here’s my strategy:

I don’t want you to grab a premium plugin ~ and pay good money ~ without having a plan. Here’s my plan.

I picked one of my old adsense (that no longer runs adsense) sites to get started on. I had already done the  keyword research a while back when I’d thought of changing the site to an affiliate site.

I added the keywords to WP Robot ~ and asked it to pull different products from Amazon related to those keywords. I set up the keywords as categories on the site ~ so each related post went into the respective category. I did this because it would be impossible to promote all the posts individually. I am instead going to promote (build links to) the category pages as they will stay stable over time, and end up with more and more options to buy as time goes on.

I set the plugin to post once every 12 hours ~ it randomly grabs one of the keywords in the list and picks a product (it won’t duplicate products) from Amazon. It posts the image, the product description, some product features, creates a great buy now button ~ all of which link back to amazon with your affiliate id ~ and this is my favorite thing ~ pulls reviews out and adds them as comments to the post. It then places the post in the right category.

I have also added the article module to the site so every once in a while an article will be posted as well ~ so the whole site isn’t just amazon products. You can alter the settings in the plugin very easily to have more or less of anything. This is a personal choice and it’s really just what you want your site to do. There are links to other people’s sites on those articles and I think that’s ok ~ it looks less like an affiliate site that way.

Speaking of affiliate links ~ the amazon module can also cloak all your affiliate links for you. :)

I started that first site a few weeks ago. I added all the category links to Traffic Bug and I did all the regular linking I do for them all. I’m getting traffic from Google already ~ not much for the main keywords, but for long tail keywords related to new posts.

Here’s the rub:

As I continue to build links to the homepage, and the category pages it will create “authority” for the whole site. This authority will help each new post rank better as well and drive more traffic from long tail keywords in addition to the targeted keywords.

I have started this process on my Christmas Blog, as well as my deal blogs. Now those sites are getting traffic for related long tail keywords as well and I’m already seeing click throughs to Amazon. This has all happened in the last couple weeks.

I see this as a long term endeavor ~ I didn’t do it to make money in a week, but to create new income streams of 5 or 10 bucks a day over time. I think it’s going to work. I can already see the process happening. The blogs look great. They look like real sites and I’m really pleased with how they’re doing so far.

Once I’ve done the initial linking ~ and Traffic Bug is going to do most of the work on that it’s a hands off process. I’ll keep you up to date on how they’re doing ~ but as of right now I’m super pleased with this plugin and would highly recommend it to people who want to get started and are having trouble coming up with content ~ messing with links ~ and getting a site put together. It’s also great for those of you who, like me, have tons of unfinished sites sitting around, or domain names sitting around doing nothing.

It’s not autopilot millions ~ but it’s definitely a viable option for new income streams.

Very interesting stuff Jackie,

The one thing that I really like is that you've taken the time to actually create a strategy unlike a lot of people that just assume that the plugin will do everything for them. A great combination of your own content with generated content is the best way to move forward to ensure that you're going to be delivering great value to your community. Once you gain a community; you're golden!

I'm going to have to check out WP Robot. I've got a Christmas site that doesn't do much, maybe that would be the ticket for that site as well as some of the other ones that are kind of stagnant. Thanks for the tip!

hey Matt,

I checked out that software you mentioned in your last comment. Not sure if I love it or not. I have found that the sites I've got with wp robot are making sales regularly. It took a while for it to happen ~ but I didn't do any promoting or link building to them... so without any extra work they've perked up. They aren't making me a millionaire or anything, but with some linking they could be even more profitable I bet.

Which software was that? Fast Blog Finder? Been posting quite a few comments lately, not sure what I recommended on your site...

Yes, now I see it was Fast Blog Finder. I really like it, but if you do decide to get it make sure you pay for the gold edition. It gives you thousands more blogs to comment on. It's really a slick piece of software. You can also import lists of blogs, so if you buy a list of high PR dofollow blogs, you can import it right into Fast Blog Finder and use it to post your comments. I'm going to read up on WP Robot, probably will be buying it. I assume that's an affiliate link on this post - I'll be sure to buy it from here!

Matt

so the gold version really is worth it? If you have questions about wp robot just send me an email and I'll do my best to answer them.

Yes, I think it's worth it. I've loaded it on 3 computers and I just plug away at blog commenting when I'm sitting in front of the tube or something. I think it's the best way to get quality backlinks, even though it's kind of a pain. Still, a good blog comment on a high PR blog is probably worth hundreds of crummy ones.

OK, I'll ask if I've got any questions. I've used an Amazon plugin in the past called "ReviewAzon" which is kind of neat. It wouldn't hurt to try this one, don't have anything to lose on some of these sites!

Do you find theplrstore.com to have a better selection of articles than The Ultimate PLR Collection software?

I've never heard of that software so I can't really say. :)

Honestly I have a little knowledge regarding this WP robot. But I thank you for this post it shown me more very insightful. I will also my husband about this. his could be a great help for our business.

Me again. Jackie, why would you use this for a niche site over something like an a store (amazon store)?

It keeps producing new content ~ a store is static.

Hi Jackie:

I am thinking of purchasing the WP Robot. From the September 1 post above, you seem really happy with this plug-in. Have you recouped your original investment? If not, do you seem this happening soon? Any additional words or wisdom or anything you would do differently?

Thank you so much!

It hasn't been long enough to recoup my investment. Getting ranked takes longer than a week or two :) But yes, I definitely think it will happen, and yes, I'm very happy with the plugin and how it is working thus far.

So you build your backlinks to your categories? Do you link to your Christmas cash lenses on the Cool Christmas gifts blog?

with the wp robot sites yes, I'm linking to keyword targeted category pages. Yes I have links to my lenses on my christmas site. Originally I put the plugin on that site so it would somewhat "hide" my posts that were just to link to my lenses. I ended up really liking the way it came out. As an update ~ the super niche sites I have ~ targeted to something very specific are doing really well (in the rankings) since I added this plugin.

Love the blog but I am a little skeptical on this, but I think I will take a closer look, hey if it help safe me time it is worth a look right.

Thanks again for great info

I understand how you have made the Christmas gits site, but cannot say the same about the gardening site. Where did the creator get all the content?

The article module pulls article from article database.

I have often wondered what WP Robot was, I see it advertised on the Google Adsense ads on blogs all the time. I just assumed it was a plugin that would help with ranking in Google.

I'm always setting up smaller blogs so maybe this would help take the pain out of setting them up and running them. :)

If all it pulls are descriptions and such, aren't you worried about the thin site slam from Google? Especially after Mayday all but killed them completely...

No, I'm not really worried about it. You can make it do a bunch of different stuff. I have it pulling in reviews on one of them ~ new posts are getting indexed within an hour or so ~ if not faster. Even the old sites I just put it on. Like I said ~ we'll see.

As I see it I'm a go between for the people looking for something and the merchants who have the stuff.

Hi Jackie
With the web sites for sale as PLR, wouldn't there be multiple people, all with the same site?
And what would one do about choosing appropriate keywords?
Could you let me know?
Regards
RUSSELL

If you purchased one of the plr sites yes, it's possible/probably other people would have the same site. I would go through the site and look for keywords that matched the products or category pages and then build links using those keywords as the anchor text.

You can also add content to the site as you go forward if you choose ~ which will also make it different than the other sites out there.

I totally trust what you are saying Jackie. You are my #1 go to in this game called affiliate marketing, etc. but there is something that feels strange about this.

I looked at the gardening site you linked to and it looks great. Like a real site that someone built with their real hands. But.....it was not built by someone's blood, sweat and tears.

It makes me fearful that a million people could just start snatching up all the niches and product keywords like there is no tomorrow and have a zillion sites that they never really built adding so much competition that it makes it hard to gain a foothold.

It looks cool and there is a part of me that (if I had the money) would love to try it out (and I may someday) but there is something in me that wants to accomplish this with my own hands.

I don't know. Maybe I'm weird. I would just feel like I was "cheating".

I haven't been on the KISS forum today. Wonder if anyone is talking about it on there.....

I get it. I felt the very same way for a long time. Then I looked at the pages and realized I was going to create the exact same type of page ~ and it's going to take me 15 or 20 minutes to do it myself. With WP Robot it takes literally a second. So I can spend my time working on linking and gaining rank in the search engines.

It absolutely could be used in a bad way ~ no doubt it IS being used to create crap spam sites. It all depends on how YOU use it.

But I get it... like I said in the beginning someone showed it to me a few months ago and I totally blew it off for the same reasons.

I was able to see it as a tool to help me do what I was already doing quicker.

Hi

I don’t think this is something to worry about. People have been building sites like this manually anyway and these PLR sites have existed for sometime now. There are so many Niches I can’t see the competition being an issue.

Also with the WProbot Plugin all it is doing is automating the manual task of extracting data from Amazon so no penalty there. I also use Reviewzon and a free plugin from wordpress.org to do these tasks.

With Google’s increasing sophistication in analysing the sites, they will downgrade "low quality" sites with time.

Content will be King in the long run as Google is always trying to deliver a quality result to the search request submitted by the user. Matt covers this extensively in his YouTube vidoes.

So I see these PLR sites (I have a few) as quick ways to test a market. Get them indexed and running. I then over time rewrite and edit the articles posted. This is no bad thing on Wordpress site as the reedit says to google yahoo and bing “Hey new fresh content come take a look”

Regards

I'm using WP Robot on a couple sites that I don't have time to work with manually right now. It's great. I pretty much forgot about one of them for months...never did backlinking or anything...and now it's ranking in the top 20 on Google.

Hi

Ive used it on one of my sites. I like using the amazon module. as it saves a bunch of time building the posts.

Im seeing some progress but I need to add in traffic bug type technology as well.

One result with using the plugin is i get a lot of indexed pages as well.

Thanks for the examples youve given they are neat

regards

Wow...thanks for sharing. Heading over to check it out right now! :)

Hi Jackie,

I want to love this, but it is kind of creepy. At the same time, I do see how it can work. Do you have a site link I could check out? I want to see how it looks. I did watch the tutorial and noticed how bad the example site looked.

Also, what do you do about photos?
devin

I hear ya Devin ~ that's what I thought too. You can click the link to the cool christmas gifts in the post ~ or go to theplrstore.com and check out the sites he's put together. Here's my favorite that he's put together and made me see the potential: http://www.theplrstore.com/blogs/gardening/

ok weird. I swear I put that link in the post but now I don't see it. hmmm...

Cool christmas gifts

Thanks Jackie,

Actually both sites looked pretty good. Are both auto-fed like the one in the video, and operated in the same way?
devin

the christmas blog is still autofed and has ongoing content. The garden site is complete as is ~ you can't sell the plugin with the site. So he's filled the site and you'd have to add new content if you wanted it. But yes he used the plugin (and probably more modules than I have) to create the site.

wp robot has done a ton to make everything random so it will avoid that. It will depend on how you set up your campaigns as well.

Hi Jackie,

Good review of WP Robot - it gives me some ideas!

One question: Is there any risk of these sites having a 'signature' that would allow Google to easily identify them?

Love the blog!
