Yesterday’s post on consistency really seems to have spoken to some of you, and that’s pretty awesome. While I was thinking about my own plans for consistency it dawned on me you have to be really clear about other things before you can get clear about the consistent action you’re going to take.
Do you know the answers to the following questions?
Who are you?
What makes you unique and different?
Where do you want your blog to go?
What do you want your blog to be for others?
You have to have a clear vision of where you want to be so you can get yourself on the right track to get there. If you can’t answer those questions for yourself, then it’s a fair assumption you’re having trouble taking consistent action.
In an effort to help you get clear answers for these questions ~ hopefully in the beginning of your blog, because it’s much easier to just head in the right direction in the first place rather than try to turn it all around 600 miles down the road ~ here are someĀ posts from some great bloggers I really recommend you read.
This is a post on Nathan Hangen’s blog. It’s a guest post by Catherine of www.BeAwesomeOnline.com.
How Easily Can You Be Replaced? ~ helps answer the question who are you?
This is one of the most powerful posts I’ve read in a while. Read it a couple times and then sit down and think about it in relation to you and your business. This concept is definitely a game changer, and best to get clear about it in the beginning.
This is a fantastic post from Marissa Bracke that will help you start thinking about how you are working your business, and how you might look at things differently.
Riding the Entrepreneurial Coaster: Eyes Open and Exhale
This one’s from David Risley who I only recently found and I’m REALLY enjoying! These are really great questions you need to know the answers to…
The Questions you MUST answer to be a successful blogger
His 6 figure blogging report is excellent as well. He is also hosting a free ask anything about blogging webinar next week. I’m signed up.
This is a great post about grabbing up your courage and not apologizing before, during or after you write. A must read for beginners! This post is a guest post by Nathan (above) on Copyblogger.
How to dominate your niche without apology
This is a post on how to find clarity in your business. As a beginner don’t let the fact you don’t have “stuff” yet put you off from reading this post. You still have things you know, talents, services to offer ~ you just may not have realized it or feel ok about it yet. Still read ~ it will give you some excellent ideas.
20 Infomercials and 1 question, or How I found clarity in my business
You can’t be remarkable and fit in at the same time.
This comes from the last post I’m sharing with you today from Charlie Gilkey at Productive Flourishing. It is a great post on accepting and using the quirky pieces of yourself, and loving them.
So what do you do when you feel like you’ve gotĀ answers to the big questions?
You create your blog to portray your answers. Like David does in his header ~ you know who he is talking to. You create categories and posts that are relevant only to what you are trying to accomplish. You exclude the stuff that isn’t relevant to your answers ~ even if it might get you “more traffic” in the short term. You be who you are loud and clear.
Will everyone love you? Nope. It’s a fact. There will be some people who love you and some people who don’t.
People freak about this… I want everyone.
No way man.
Everyone is really no one, because when you can speak to everyone you can rarely create excitement, passion in your readers. When people LOVE you ~ they talk about you, they tweet about you, they link to you.
When you’re mediocre, middle of the road, not making waves, not taking a stand, trying to please everyone, and displease no one ~ you are forgettable, and that’s the worse thing you can possibly be.
ACTION:
Identify what makes you you ~ turn it up to 11. Allow your weirdness to shine baby!!
Identify what you want your blog to do.
Look at your blog categories, and see if they portray that purpose.
Create your infomercial ~ it really helps you gain clarity to be able to say what you are about in 30 seconds.
Let us know! Leave your comments and clarity in the comments section. I can’t wait to hear!
